The Evolution Of Ashley Greene: Follow The 'New Moon' Star's Rising Career In Photos
Like most of the stars of "Twilight," getting a starring role in the vampire love story was Ashley Greene's lucky break. The 22-year-old actress was an unknown before she was cast in the role ofAlice Cullen and didn't have a pivotal role in a film to date. Since then, she has continued to be cast as the future-seeing vampire through all its upcoming installments, and has a few more film roles lined up.
Though it was her short stature that landed Ashley the job as Alice Cullen, her 5' 5" frame meant she couldn't pursue her first love: modeling. She took some classes for commercial acting and fell in love with the craft. After graduating high school early at age 17, Ashley headed from her home in Jacksonville, Fla. to L.A. to pursue a career in acting.
Her first credited role was in an episode of "Crossing Jordan" in 2006. Ashley landed a few more TV roles on "Punk'd" and "MADtv," and she got a recurring role for six episodes as Renata on the short-lived TV show "Desire."
In 2007, she was cast as "McDonald's Customer" in the film "King of California," but didn't get another role until she was cast in an uncredited role in the TV show "Shark." She also got the role of "Kim #4" in the comedy-murder-crime film, "Otis."
But on February 19, 2008, Summit Entertainment released a press release saying Ashley would get the role of Alice in the upcoming adaptation of the bestselling vampire novel, "Twilight." Thoughinitially shunned by fans for her height and the length of her hair, she has since become a beloved part of the "Twilight Saga" community.
Ashley will reprise her role in next month's "New Moon" and its sequel, "Eclipse." Her first starring role in the film "Summer's Moon" was released on DVD November 10. Her other films, "Skateland"and "Radio Free Albemuth" are set to come out in 2009, and she gets a chance to team up with her "Twilight" costar and close friend Kellan Lutz in their new movie "Warrior," which is in post-production now.
Though her past few months have been rocky with a nude picture scandal hitting the internet, somehow we think Ashley is on cloud nine with the way her life has turned around in the past few years. After all, she was caught smooching "Gossip Girl" hottie Chace Crawford, so who could be complaining about their life after that?
