Great year

2009 was a great year for Twilight.

2009 Was Great For Taylor Swift, Adam Lambert, Twilight Stars

Nothing can top these 2009 superstars.

What is it that keeps some stars on top? Simon Cowell calls it the X Factor -- it's that can-we-be-best-friends charisma and the ability to come out on top of controversy that hooked the world on a handful of particular stars in 2009. (Oh yeah, plus their talent.)
Here are the five entities that reigned supreme in the entertainment world this year (well, six if you add Dancing With the Stars winner, our pal Kym Johnson). By year's end there was no fighting it: you're a fan too!
Adam Lambert: It started last spring with the shocking American Idol non-win when Lambert appeared to be a voter (and Simon) favorite. But the success of Glambert's November 2009 album For Your Entertainment proved that he's on everybody's radar...especially when he performed the title track at the American Music Awards in November. The high-sex, low-blow performance got Lambert uninvited from a few appearances, but he definitely got the world's attention. By early December he was apologetic and better known than ever...and had the bouncers at ABC eating from his hand.
Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian: There's no fighting the Kardashian fascination. Their presence on E! infiltrated American media this year, especially when the network aired Khloe'ssort of-wedding to L.A. Lakers' Lamar Odom in September. The nuptials weren't official until weeks later, but now Khlodom are a Hollywood staple. As for Kourtney, she birthed baby Mason Dash Disick in early December. While we didn't know who the little fellas daddy was at first, Kourtney made pregnancy look as hot as we've seen it.
Lady Gaga: The public met Gaga with hesitation early this year. There were the rumors of Satanic cults worshipping her, the buzz that she's really a boy (so not true!)...but when she didn't let it get her down, she grew on us -- and up the charts. Lady Gaga gave us "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi" among lots of other '09 anthems, and she also gave her dad heart surgery and free pizza to hungry, waiting fans. No wonder 2009 was the year the world went googoo for Gaga.
Twilight: As our friend Julia Jones from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse told us, being inTwilight changes an actor's life. Can you imagine?! In November New Moon shattered opening-weekend records with over $230 million in its first weekend of U.S. release, and we at LimeLife are hard pressed to think of a recent fan craze like this one...New Kids On the Block, maybe? These days Twilight stars like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are prepping for projects only seasoned entertainers get a stab at -- watch a clip and read about Kristen's latest right here.
Taylor Swift: Is there any mainstream outlet thathasn't named Taylor Swift the entertainer of the year? She won the title at the Country Music Awards (telling the audience, "...everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me") and made the cover ofPeople's 2009 Top 25 Intriguing People issue to close 2009. Swift has been referred to in the press as one of the most humble and grateful entertainers of our time. We hope 2010 is just as bright for this star of many talents.
