Who Is The Next Robert Pattinson?
Four sexy imports to know before everyone else does.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has said that when she wanted to cast Robert Pattinson in the role of Edward Cullen, producers for the saga had their doubts.
But these days, nobody's laughing at Hardwicke. And as David Letterman recently observed in his interview with Robert Pattinson, stars from the UK and Ireland seem to be arriving in Hollywood by the busload. We've put our feelers out for Pattinson-esque under-the-radar up-and-comers so that when they get famous, you can tell the world you already knew them. Oi! Check them out...you will not be disappointed.
Kevin J. Ryan. Oh. Em. Gee. Twenty-five-year-old Irish heartbreaker Kevin J. Ryan appeared on the American soapDays of Our Lives in 2008 in the guest role of Sean. The part was a brief one, and he continued working in Los Angeles (where he moved in 2003) as an actor, writer and producer. Ryan now plays a principal part as a "down-and-out" drinker and druggie in the upcoming filmTripping Tommy, which hits theaters across America in December. It's said his American accent is impeccable...but with a face like that, he can speak however he likes.
Bobby Long. When his publicist said Twilight, we knew you'd want to know about Bobby Long. Bobby is the 24-year-old singer and co-writer of "Let Me Sign" from the Twilightsoundtrack. Turns out the England native was a mate of Robert Pattinson from college, and Rob was the one who suggested to producers that they include "Let Me Sign" as part of the film. Bobby Long is now on a US mini-tour, which will close in New York City on December 19 (we plan to be there!). He's sold over 10,000 copies of his album Dirty Pond Songs at gigs in the US and UK, and his new album drops in 2010. Two of Bobby's singles are available for purchase on Bobby Long's MySpace.
Hakeem Kae-Kazim. When it comes to audience captivation and presence on the worldwide screens, Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a British force to be reckoned with (à la Robert Pattinson). Kae-Kazim is a classically-trained, award-winning film and theater star from the United Kingdom who's getting cozy on the American screen as well. You may recognize the stunner from his role in the television show 24, Lost, and Law & Order: SVU; or films like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Oscar-nominated Hotel Rwanda. Kae-Kazim now stars as Cpt. Jack Tobamke alongside Milla Jovovich in the thriller The Fourth Kind, which hit American theaters on November 1. Kae-Kazim lives with his wife (doh!) and two children in Los Angeles.
Tom Sturridge. Faces don't get much more English than this. Georgeous baby-faced Sturrdige plays Carl in the November 2009 comedy Pirate Radio alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman. Tom Sturridge, like Bobby Long, is a friend of Robert Pattinson. Both are 23-year-old London natives, and it's said they crossed paths when Sturridge's two siblings attended The Harrodian School with Pattinson. His upcoming roles include the indie-romanceWaiting for Forever with Rachel Bilson, and he, Robert Pattinson, Bobby Long and musician Marcus Foster are sometimes referred to as "The Brit Pack."
