Rap

A twilight rap that has hit it big.

Twinprov “Twilight: New Moon” rap a hit

On Nov. 19, Oklahoma City-based comedy duo Twinprov performed their “Twilight: New Moon Rap” in front of 2,200 “Twilight” fans in five packed theaters at the Harkins Bricktown 16 midnight premiere of the sequel.
Eight days later, the video of that performance was posted to YouTube and has been racking up views and praise ever since. In just more than three days, the video has received more than 2,800 views and continues to gain momentum, nabbing an additional 100 views about every two hours.
Amanda Bell of the “Twilight Examiner” describes the rap as “substantive, creative, and well-done.”
“It pulls from several different song sources and actually reflects upon the ‘New Moon’ storyline fairly accurately. Another plus is the fact that it’s not quite so aggressively antagonistic to the series as parodies past have been,” says Bell.
The “New Moon Rap” is the fifth in a series of movie-themed raps that all started out as a challenge by yours truly to Twinprov to improvise a rap about the new “Star Trek” movie they had all just seen. Subsequent raps for “Terminator,” “Transformers” and “Harry Potter” followed with videos for NewsOK and live performances in front of thousands at Harkins. You can watch all of the movie raps at www.twinprov.com.
Twinprov is a one-of-a-kind comedy troupe made up of two-of-a-kind twin brothers Buck and Clint Vrazel that specializes in creating reality-altering improv, stand-up, sketch, and musical comedy. As insatiable information sponges and natural mimics, these clone comics absorb and warp ideas from pop-culture, movies, games, history, philosophy, science and math to create smart, challenging, and off the wall comedy that can’t be duplicated.
The Vrazels have been performing and teaching improv comedy for nine years and are founding members of O.U. Improv and Red Dirt Improv. Since Twinprov’s April debut, they have produced three original shows at local comedy night Mondays Don’t Suck, performed their popular series of movie-themed raps in front of thousands at various local film premieres, entertained at the 2009 OKC Pride Festival and The Toy & Action Figure Museum’s 4th Birthday Bash, and have been featured performers in The Improv Festival Oklahoma, The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas, and The New Orleans Improv Festival. In upcoming months Twinprov will be on the road performing at clubs and festivals around the country and will be hard at work on their exciting new two hour comedy extravaganza that will debut in OKC early next year.
Twinprov, along with five other local improv acts, will perform live at the premiere of OKC Improv at 10 tonight at The Ghostlight Theatre, 3110 N. Walker. Tickets will be $10 and will be sold at the door. Audiences are encouraged to come early as seating is limited. There will be a cash bar. This show may not be suitable for small children.
