Stick together

The cast is sticking together when it comes to their contracts.

'Twilight' stars join forces to negotiate contracts

'Twilight' trio said to be negotiating contracts in tandem

Much as the success of the "Harry Potter" film franchise turned the once-unknown Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint into internationally famous and extremely wealthy movie stars, a similar route to lifelong financial security is clearly in the cards for "Twilight"/"New Moon" stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
As the trio approaches negotiations for what may be two films based on the Breaking Dawn novel in author Stephenie Meyer's vampire saga, word has it Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner are joining forces to negotiate as a team. The story is reminiscent of the approach taken by "Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc -- who famously stuck together for all of their contract negotiations in that hit TV series' long run.

Though nothing is yet on paper, there is word the huge box-office hauls of both "Twilight" and "New Moon" -- and the likely success of "Eclipse," already shot and due in June -- has the three actors likely to be able to demand paychecks well into eight figures for the next two films.
• By the way, a good source close to Pattinson and Lautner tells me the two young actors are "very amused" by all the stories flying around the blogosphere about an alleged big "feud" between the co-stars. While the two men couldn't be more different in real life, the Summit Entertainment insider says their relationship is truly a case of "opposites attract" and the two actors actually are extremely good friends.
SPECIAL PROJECT: Speaking of Schwimmer, the actor and filmmaker is currently directing "Trust" -- a movie he co-wrote, starring Catherine Keener and Clive Owen as the parents of an online predator victim.
While they're shooting in Ann Arbor, Mich., the story is set in Wilmette. The stage version of the film will play at Schwimmer's beloved Lookingglass Theatre from March to May of next year. Andy Beilin is the co-writer, and fellow Lookingglass ensemble member Heidi Stillman will co-direct the stage version.
This project is important to Schwimmer. He is a board member of the Rape Foundation and has actively supported the Rape Treatment Center in Los Angeles for more than 10 years.
ANIMAL ACTION: Note to Mickey Rourke: You will soon be targeted by various animal rights groups -- upset by photos showing you buying girlfriend Elena Kuletskaya a puppy from a New York pet shop that buys pooches from puppy mills -- instead of adopting a pup from a shelter.
REALLY RETIRING? He's said it before, but this time Alec Baldwinsounds serious; the Emmy winner claims he'll retire from acting once his contract with "30 Rock" is up.
Baldwin again stresses his intention to hang it up, as he indicated earlier this year in Playboy. In the new Men's Journal, Baldwin says, "I don't have any interest in acting anymore. . . . Movies are part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else," said the 51-year-old star, who next will be seen on the big screen in "It's Complicated," out Christmas Day. He stars with Meryl Streep and Baldwin's 2010 Oscars show co-host, Steve Martin.
TUNE IN: Hot recording artist, PBS sensation and musical heartthrobChris Botti will make a special appearance on Kevin Moore's program on WJJG-AM (1530) around 3:30 p.m. today -- chatting up his various Chicago gigs this weekend.
SPORTS SHORTS: Among the crowd at the Underground for a viewing party for the big Victoria's Secret TV show was the Bulls' Derrick Rose. . . . Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith celebrated their historic win the other night -- the longest shootout in Blackhawks' history -- by lunching at Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, happily posing with the Harry statue.
WEDDING BELLS: Despite those big denials from Britney Spears that she's engaged to agent/boyfriend Jason Trawick, I'm hearing the couplewill tie the knot early next year.
TAKE NOTE: Former alderman Burt Natarus -- certainly one of the mostentertaining City Council members in Chicago history -- will again co-star with author and broadcaster Cathi Watson in "Love Letters" Sunday at Zanies on Wells -- with proceeds benefitting Chicago's Ogden School.
