Library in the Twilight zone
Love-struck girls may soon be hiding in the book stacks at the London Library, desperate for a sighting of their ultimate crush.
Robert Pattinson, star of the Twilight vampire films and heart-throb of both teenage girls and their mothers everywhere, has been revealed to be a member of the St James's Square institution.
I'm either a decade too old or two decades too young to swoon over Pattinson.
To me, he looks like a member of a cheesy boy band, only with toff hair and caterpillar-like eyebrows.
But I'm dreading the effect his presence may have, knowing that he could bring a whole new crowd to my centralLondon sanctum. And they won't be as quiet as the old men dozing in front of the fire in the reading room.
Pattinson joining is good news for the library, though. After it raised its fees, many people decided they could no longer afford membership.
Shrieking pre-pubescents might not be their target audience but it's better than a library with no readers.
