Q&A With Kellan Lutz From Super Bowl Event

group of celebrities at Venus Williams’ special event at The W Hotel on South Beach celebrating the launch of her new sports detergent with Tide called Febreeze Freshness Sport that keeps sports clothes clean and fresh. Lutz took time out from shooting hoops and playing tennis to do an exclusive Q&A with MiamiDolphins.com Senior Internet Writer Andy Kent.

Andy Kent: Did you ever think you’d be at a Super Bowl event with Venus Williams as one of the Miami Dolphins’ owners?

Kellan Lutz: I know, which is amazing. A, I grew up playing tennis. I’m very competitive. I like to win and the more I can win on my own I guess the more glorification I an get on my own, so that’s why tennis was an upbringing of my own, and I kind of had to stop during high school just because I was so busy. So watching it, I watch tennis all the time. Hanging out with Venus and getting photos with her, I never thought that would happen. It’s really cool that’s she a part of the Dolphins and the Dolphins, they’re a great team. I mean they did awesome this year and here I am at the Super Bowl in Miami and I get to go to their stadium, which I’ve never been and it looks amazing.”

AK: Is this your first Super Bowl and where did you watch last year’s Super Bowl?

KL: Yes, this is my first one. Where was I last year? I believe I was working, filming (Twilight) and I went to the Cardinals-Eagles game but then I couldn’t make the Super Bowl. I was like, my Cardinals are in the Super Bowl and I couldn’t be there.”

AK: Your director wouldn’t give you a little hiatus?

KL: Trust me, I tried to play some sick day cards but that didn’t work.

AK: Do you think you can return one of Venus’ serves?

KL: No. I can’t even return my agent’s and he plays all the time. I like to play but I’m a little rusty.

AK: Have you been down here all week?

KL: I just got in. I had the worst flight. The flight got delayed and the plane was broken, so it took us 12 hours to get here from L.A. I haven’t slept, but with this Tide event it’s active. I like events like this where you get to shoot hoops, throw footballs and play tennis. This is my type of event.

AK: I see you’ve got the Help Haiti T-shirt on. Obviously, Miami has the largest Haitian population in the country and there are a couple of Haitian players in the game. What do you think about what the NFL and the Dolphins have done for the Haiti relief effort?

KL: I’m really impressed with the NFL because they are always hands on with anything that’s going on in the world. That’s why I’m voting for the Saints, and the Colts have an amazing team and the have great players, but I think the Saints’ heart will hopefully win it for them. And I think it will mean a lot to the Saints and New Orleans, and what the NFL is doing with the Haiti organization, it’s amazing. They’re just such an organization to look up to and I don’t know. I just love the NFL.
