It's been more than two months since
"The Runaways" first debuted at Sundance, and now finally the film will be hitting (select) theaters. Though some fans will have to wait until early April to see
Kristen Stewart and
Dakota Fanning in their turn as
Joan Jett and
Cherie Curie respectively, MTV News brought the young actresses back to the moment when they first had to play the musicians.
Both said they were extremely nervous when walking onto the set for the first time as their real life alter egos were there to greet them. Dakota said having to play someone who was going to be in the room at the same time she was performing them was one of her biggest fears going into the movie, but that wasn't the only one.
"Also, singing for me, which was very intimidating," Dakota admitted. "I didn't really know exactly who the Runaways were, so just learning about them and watching the 'Live in Japan' of 'Cherry Bomb' and realizing I had to do that was a little scary. But that's kind of what drew me to it and excited me."
But Dakota said she got herself through it by telling herself that first day would be the worst. "After you get the first day under your belt, you feel pretty good about it," she said.
Kristen didn't seem to think that psychology worked. "Every day was a huge scene," she said. "There was never one day that was just like, 'Oh yeah, no big deal today.' Every day was loaded."
