Kristen's Met Fashion

Here is a compilation of what was thought about Kristen's Met look.  Some good and some bad so I would say mixed reviews.

Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan And More Step Out With Flare For The 2010 Met Ball

When it comes to fashion with a flare, The Costume Institute Gala Benefit (better known as the MET Gala) — which, this year, is celebrating the opening of the "American Women: Fashioning a National Identity" exhibition — is never one to disappoint. It's the one time of year when the stars are really encouraged to push the envelope and take some fashion risks. To find out which stars really went all out for the gala and which ones totally missed the mark, check out or recap!
KRISTEN STEWART
While Emma's look had us swooning, Kristen Stewart's Chanel dress had us cringing. Kristen's been all over our best dressed lists as of late, but her outfit last night looked like a prom dress gone wrong. Essentially, the cut and shape were totally unflattering and the flat pulled back hair didn't do anything to help the matter. Better luck next time, KStew.

Gallery: Best dressed celebs at the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala

The Met Ball is one of the hottest fashion events of the year with every celebrity in their right minds (and of course an invite) turning up for the star studded event, otherwise known as the annual Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala.
Celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker, who turned up in a pale pink frock, Anne Hathaway, who led the trend for big and netted and Blake Lively who wore a stunning turquoise gown, complete with natural fake tan all made a note worthy fashion appearance.
They were joined by Chloe Sevigny who also showed off a dark wash of colour in her Proenza Schouler mini dress and designers including Stella McCartney.
However we think it was Kristen Stewart who really stole the show with her funky fashion take to red carpet glam.
We put together a gallery of the best dressed of the night.
Kristen takes red carpet glamour to a funky
new edge with this black frock complete with
on-trend bold tights.

Costume Institute MET Gala 2010: Top 10 Best Dressed

There you have it, our very quick look at our top ten best dressed at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art's 2010 Costume Institute Ball, held May 4, 2010, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, NY.
Sienna Miller gets top billing for her stellar turn in this midnight blue Pucci: the styling, the accessories, the slit, the shoes, and the attitude were all spot on.  And when Sienna is on, she ison.  (Sidenote: How cute is it that Jude and she are back walking the red carpet together?)
Anne Hathaway was all glittery perfection in her Valentino ball gown.  We’re pretty certain Taylor Swift wore, if not this dress, than something really similar to it at another event (of course she did, it’s got sequins!), but Anne breathes life into this dress even if it does look like an escapee fromThe Princess Diaries wardrobe.  Leaving her hair down was smart, because an up-do here could have made it a little too fairy princess.
Kate Bosworth channelled Old Hollywood 1930’s era glamour with aplomb.  Ms. Bosworth has the right type of figure to pull this dress off, and instead of looking boring and shapeless, it looks sophisticated and sleek.  This look reminds us of vintage Oscar looks from the late 30’s.  Classic.  Love the hair.
Jessica Alba doesn’t usually get much attention on our blog, but we fell in love with her could-be-an-extra-in-a-screwball-comedy gown.  Again, Ms. Alba is channelling the 30’s and looking exceptionally convincing as an old school starlet.
Kristen Stewart’s Chanel couture look wasn’t, isn’t, for everyone, but the more we look at this dress, this styling, the more we love it.  Perhaps, we’re too bias to critique it objectively, and there are a few issues the shoes, the shoes! and the hem but the overall effect is dark, seductive, and glamorous – very 1920’s a la The Great Gatsby (can’t you see this dress in a Speakeasy with a tumbler and a cigar in-hand?), and we’re both suckers for looks which evoke that period.  Kristen's makeup and hair (yep, you heard right, we like the hair!) do an excellent job of putting her in character for this dress.  We applaud the gamble, that’s what it’s all about.
Wrapping it up, our best dressed choices were based somewhat on the theme of the night – the American woman.  Lots of these gowns are call-backs to different periods of fashion history: Sarah Jessica Parker’s Halston has a 70’s vibe, while Rachel Weisz’s pink ODLR recalls Marilyn Monroe’s turn in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.  JLo’s gown reminds us of the brilliant volume-enhanced couture pieces from the 1950’s when Dior was breaking away from the more tailored looks of the war era.
All in all, not our favourite Gala fashion-wise.  There were lots of disappointments, and many, many misses, but we definitely enjoyed these looks.  We were very close to adding Camilla Belle to the list, who was absolutely stunning in red.

the MET's Costume Institute Gala: Kristen Stewart
Zoe Graffin Blog:
This is Twilight star Kristen Stewart, the girl who Robert Pattinson has chosen as his real-life girlfriend.
Why????????
Apparently it’s Chanel. Maybe it looked better on its hanger?

New York Post:
Kristen Stewart, however, failed in a sheer Chanel flop, which revealed skin but also poor judgment.

Beauty Blogging Junkie
Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai styled the locks of Kristen Stewart. The inspiration was the 1920s era, while the look was a young modern undone concept. C'est chic, n'est-ce pas?

How to get the look: On wet hair, Campora applied Fekkai Coiff™ Extra Control Styling Gel throughout and then formed a side part. He dried the hair and used his fingers to create a wave. Next, piece by piece, he pinned the back of the hair with bobby pins creating waves in the backwhile keeping the sides and front smooth. To set the look, he sprayed Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray.
Product line-up: Fekkai Coiff™ Extra Control Styling Gel ($23), Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray ($35)

Socialite Life:
Kristen Stewart attends the Costume Institute Gala Benefit to celebrate the opening of the 'American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity' exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 3, 2010 in New York City.
The girl WORKED it! Kristen always looks so much more pretty to me when she's all dolled up. Not that she doesn't look cute when she's wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but the girl can turn on the glam when she wants to.
She got a little racy with the sheer sheath that shows off her legs. Chanel Haute Couture works for Kristen!

Glamour:
I seriously want to give Kristen Stewart a lesson in smiling, posing, and generally working it--if I were wearing a gorgeous Chanel dress like that, I'd be making a very different face!

PopSugar:
Kristen Stewart is edgy as ever in her daring Chanel at tonight's Costume Institute Gala! She matched her simultaneously short and long sheer dress with black finger- and toenails, a black clutch, and some sky-high heels. She didn't crack a smile for the cameras, which only added to her rocker-chic feel — how's that for a lot of leg? Kristen is in NYC after spending last week in high-schooler Bella Swan mode filming the Eclipse reshoots, but back in real life Kristen is fashion-forward as ever. We just wish Robert could be here to see how hot she looks — weigh in on Kristen's sexy couture and all the night's other red carpet beauty and style!

RedCarpet Fashion Awards:
I was hoping to see some colour on Kristen Stewart tonight at the Costume Institute Gala.
She instead wore a black taffeta asymmetrical Chanel Spring 2008 Couture dress with a chiffon shimmering skirt.
I love the hair, the make-up and the attitude, but I just don’t love the dress.
The pointy neckline doesn’t work for me, but she does look beautiful. I just wish she dress had matched.
Sergio Rossi heels and a Chanel clutch complete the look.
