Before the latest installment of the Twilight saga heats up the big screen later this month, we had a chance to talk with Chaske Spencer, the actor who plays wolf pack leader Sam Uley in the series. Not only has Chaske been busy working on two new movies and promoting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but he also has time to do charitable work when he's not on the silver screen. Here are the top five reasons we can't get enough of this Twilight hunk.1. He likes to give back.
Chaske is an active supporter of United Global Shift, a charity that focuses on the environment, employment, entrepreneurship, health and education. He is currently involved with several projects that will aid in reducing poverty and creating sustainable communities. "Right now, my focus is on my acting and my charity-driven work," he says.
2. He's a seasoned actor.
Before his reign as the alpha wolf in Twilight, Chaske starred in the title role of Dracula on Broadway, and he's made appearances in several other stage productions. In addition to working on two new films, Chaske also had roles in Skins and Dreamkeeper, as well as in Steven Spielberg's television mini-series Into the West. We'll get to see more of him on the big screen in next year's Shouting Secrets, which also stars Twilight's Gil Birmingham (better known as Jacob's father, Billy Black).
3. He's a lot like Sam Uley.
Even though he can't morph into a giant werewolf or use telepathy to tap into his friends' thoughts, Chaske thinks he's a lot like Sam when it comes to dating. "Sam seems very caring and nurturing, and also extremely protective. I would like to think I am [too]," he says.
4. He's a romantic.
What's Chaske's idea of the perfect date? "Dinner and a movie, maybe a nice quiet walk afterwards," says this romantic-at-heart. He also says he likes women who are smart, funny and loyal. And while he's taking time to focus on his career and charity work, he says, "I am not excluding dating in any way."
5. He loves werewolves.
While we aren't picking sides when it comes to vampires versus werewolves, Chaske stays true to his character and is a fervent supporter of Team Jacob. Why? It's simple: "Werewolves are much cooler," he says with a sly smile.source
