Muse on ‘Twilight’ Soundtrack: ‘Sometimes You Have to Sell Your Soul’
Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme may be regretting his recent remarks about appearing on the Twilight soundtracks once Twi-hards show him their fangs!
Muse has been featured on all three of the Twilightsoundtracks, which has no doubt brought in more fans for the band, yet bassist Chris recently compared it to selling his soul.
“I’m not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things, but sometimes you’ve just got to get your music out there in different ways,” he told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat column.
“It’s very difficult in America, because you don’t have anything like Radio 1, nothing is national,” Chris said. “You have to take every opportunity you get over there, and sometimes you have to sell your soul.”
While Chris sounds less than enthused to be a part of these films, his band’s tracks have become favorites for millions of Twilight fans.
Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole” was the lead track in the Twilight soundtrack; “I Belong to You (New Moon Remix)” appeared on the New Moon disc; and “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)” is now on the Eclipse album.
But finding a placement for “Neutron Star Collision” in the film was not an enjoyable experience for Chris.
“When we were in the studio writing it, one minute they said they wanted to use it in the end credits, and then they said they wanted to use it in another scene,” Chris explained. “Then it was another scene and, in the end, we were like, ‘Do what you want with it, we don’t care any more.’ ”
