Get the Look: Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in The Runaways

The best behind-the-scenes products used on the cast to give you an edgy rock-n-roll look.

Taking a break from Edward Cullen and the rest of the (highly attractive) immortal world, Kristen Stewart and the latest lady to join the Twilight crew, Dakota Fanning, star in the coming-of-age biopic of The Runaways. We're beyond excited to see Stewart, who plays Joan Jett, and Fanning, who plays Cherie Currie, portray these two edgy rockers who burst through the rock scene without hesitation.

Aside from nailing the attitudes, their rock-star looks for the film are dead-on. Head makeup artist Robin Mathewstells us here how to get their rock-inspired smoky eyes.

Kristen Stewart's Classic Smoky Eye

Start with Make Up Forever's Eye Shadow Metallic Taupe, #127. Cover the entire lid with shadow so that there are no hard edges, making sure to blend out the color extremely well. Using Aqua Eyes #0L in Black, apply a generous amount of eyeliner under the eye on the lower lid, then rim the top lid as close to the lash line as possible. Using a smudging brush, smudge the liner on the top and bottom of the eye. The secret to a rock-and-roll smoky eye is the smudge. It doesn't have to be uniform or neat. Once you're done smudging, go back and reapply a heavier coat of eyeliner along the lash line. Remove any excess shadow that may have fallen with a sponge. ApplyEye Shadow #139, Iridescent Brown Black and smudge it over the black liner that was smudged earlier on the top and bottom lids. To complete the smoky eye, use a lash curler to lift and apply Smoky Lash first to the tops of the lashes, and then follow through, scissoring up to create volume and separation.

Dakota Fanning's Colorful Smoky Eye

Apply Star Powder #922 in Copperonto the lid, all the way to the inner corner, stopping just shy of the outer corner. Using Aqua Eyes #3L in Iridescent Navy Blue, line the lash on the top and bottom lids. The trick is to apply the liner as close to the lash line as possible. Smudge the liner on the top and bottom of the eye using a smudging brush to create a more fluid, blended look. Apply Eye Shadow #81 in Metallic Navy Blue Iridescent to the outer corner of the eye using a small flat brush, then drag the shadow into the crease very lightly. Tap the brush to remove any excess shadow and then blend the blue shadow line slightly. Using the same brush, apply the blue eye shadow onto the bottom lash line to blend it out and create a smoky effect. Curl the lashes, then apply Smoky Lash Mascara going up and out to elongate the eye.
