Old Hollywood glamour rules the Met Ball

Last night fashion and Hollywood collided at the 2001 Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Opera honoring the late Lee Alexander Mc Queen. And while there is a lively (and ubiquitous) debate online as to who's dress ruled the day one thing is for sure it was old Hollywood glamour  that was the night's hottest beauty trend. Some of our favorite looks included:

Hair:
Twilight Actress Ashley Greene's gorgeously shiny hair was both young and ethereal, almost supernatural in appearance. The soft side-sweep and done-but relaxed bun perfectly highlighted the actresses to die-for cheek bones and gorgeous Donna Karan dress.   Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson, who created her coif explained the inspiration for the look:
“I always think the hair should go with the dress and this look was modern, young, chic and simple with her Donna Karan dress.”

How it was done:  "Ted started using Hair Sheet Styling  all over Ashley’s damp hair to give it volume and shine. He then used a flat brush and separated the hair into sections. Ted used a flatiron to create waves in the sections. He created a deep side part and twisted the hair onto itself for an updated chignon. He finished the look with Beautiful Hold Hairspray."
