Summit in Talks to Merge with Lionsgate

Breaking Dawn lionsgate summit 600x450 Summit in Talks to Merge with Lionsgate, Twilight and Hunger Games Under One Roof? summit entertainment
Summit, the studio behind The Twilight Saga, is reportedly  in talks to merge with Lionsgate, creator of the upcoming Hunger Games movies.
This isn’t the first time talks have happened behind closed doors according to Bloomberg, and neither studio is commenting at present. The current rumors are based on the word of three people “with knowledge of the situation,” according to Bloomberg, who broke the story.
This would allow the studios behind two of the biggest book-to-movie translations in recent memory to pool resources.
Summit was a tiny studio before it hit gold with the Twilight series. Lionsgate hopes to find the same success.
This deal could allow the studios to take on more projects like The Night Circus, which is a fantastic book from a first-time author that Summit recently picked up before it = hit shelves. Had Twilight not happened, it’s hard to imagine Summit having the resources to make the fanciful and fantastic book a reality on screen.
While the financials and terms are unknown, it’s hard to see the downside. As long as Edward Cullen doesn’t pop up in Hunger Games 8: Volturi vs. The Capitol, this sounds good to me!
