/2011 Style Verdicts: Best Dressed Ensemble: The Cast Of Breaking Dawn

2011 Style Verdicts: Best Dressed Ensemble - The Cast of "Breaking Dawn"
It was a big year for movies, especially two mega franchises — “Harry Potter” and “Twilight”. While the wizards concluded their story during the summer, it was the vampires who took over in the fall in the most stylish way. The cast of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ hit the promotional trail in late October heavily to promote the first installment of the finale to the blockbuster hit clad in designer looks by major fashion houses such as Gucci, Givenchy, J. Mendel, Donna Karan, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana.
While some stars stayed consistently stylish, some had a rocky road, and others really came into their own. Here are some of my favorite looks Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Taylor Lautner, and the rest of the vampy gang globally rocked.

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan and Nikki Reed in Michael Kors
Nikki Reed in Michael Kors & Ashley Greene in Donna KaranThese were my favorite looks from both Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed during the tour. The avant-garde black and white cutaway Donna Karan design that Ashley donned at the NYC premiere of the film was so interesting. Every angle showed off the dress in a different light — and they were all good. Nikki echoed her choice of a vibrant cutout look with an acid green halter gown by Michael Kors that was trimmed in black and cutaway at both sides of her stomach.
Both ladies accessorized brilliantly, but it was Nikki who had me boiling with a major case of ‘shoe envy’ over her caged platform Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

Kristen Stewart in Marios Schwab, J. Mendel, Roberto Cavalli & Barbara BuiPhotos:
Kristen Stewart in Marios Schwab, Barbara Bui, J. Mendel & Roberto Cavalli She’s come a long way from unkempt grungy hair (cough-mullet-cough), the same shoes with every dress (oh, how I miss you t-strap Chanel pumps), chipped nail polish, and the day-old eyeliner look. Kristen Stewart turned a glamorous page during the press tour for “Breaking Dawn”.
During the ceremony for her hand and foot-printing at the Grauman Chinese Theatre in November, Kristen showed off a shortened sexy netted dress by Marios Schwab and a pair of killer pin heel velvet black pumps by Brian Atwood. She changed into sneakers for the actual printing but not before we got this great shoe shot.
For the Los Angeles premiere Kristen shimmered in my favorite look from J. Mendel‘s spring 2012 collection, a sequined brushstroke black and iris dress with a super high thigh slit to show off her black Jimmy Choo heels. She slipped back into those Choo’s for the London premiere where she paired them with a gorgeous sequin and beaded black Roberto Cavalli gown. This was one of my Best of 2011 red carpet looks!
If only her Barbara Bui skirt had been seen on the red carpet! In one of the best outfits I’ve ever seen her in, Kristen wore a black and white beaded fringe mini skirt from Barbara’s spring 2012 collection with a draping black blouse by 3.1 Phillip Lim for an appearance on “The Ellen Show”. While I’m not the biggest fan of the pairing between the skirt and top — I will say that the skirt, black tights, and black leather pin heel Brian Atwood pumps make it all worthwhile. She may be known for showing off her long slender legs, but she shouldn’t be afraid to wear tights much more in the future.

Robert Pattinson in Gucci, Acne & Seize sur Vingt
Robert Pattinson in Gucci, ACNE & Seize sur Vingt The studly Robert Pattinson wore a lot of black and grey for the tour, but there were three looks that stood out clear for me. Actually, it would’ve been four had we got some red carpet shots of him in his Gucci suit at the Swedish fan event back in October. No wait, I’m lying… he totally made my Best Dressed Men list in his Emporio Armani from the London premiere.
Maybe I should just back on up and say that there are three looks I want to draw focus to? Yeah, that works.
Rob was dashing on the black carpet at the Los Angeles “Breaking Dawn” premiere in his dark ink Gucci suit and complimenting grey dress shirt and slate gray tie.
When Rob took to NYC for an interview on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, he brought his custom black “Wall St.” suit by ACNE to a more casual level by pairing it with a henley and t-shirt. Thank goodness for the photographer who caught this action shot of Robert heading to his seat so that I was able to appreciate him from his head to his Ferragamo clad toes.
Robert joined his co-star Taylor Lautner for a premiere in Berlin before going on break to enjoy the holidays. For the final premiere of the tour he was suave in a black suit by Seize sur Vingt that he wore with a white button-down dress shirt and jazzed it up with a nice dark grey tie. Shiny patent shoes finished off his look.

Ashley Greene in Givenchy, L'Wren Scott & Peter Som
Ashley Greene in Peter Som, L’Wren Scott & Givenchy Ashley Greene took some risks when it came to her press wardrobe. The 24-year-old actress kicked things off in October for a fan event in Paris wearing a head-to-toe Givenchy look. Her ink-black peplum resort 2012 dress was chic but she slightly obscured the fanned out halter neckline with a chunky necklace from the spring 2012 collection. While I had hoped for the thorn-embellished sandals, I loved her sexy back-zip black sandals.
She went the girly route for the fan event a few days later in Brussels when she donned a blushing sequin floral dress by L’Wren Scott. She put all focus on the dress by completing her look with pin straight tresses, nude Brian Atwood pumps, and matching gold Camelia earrings from CHANEL.
The following month Ashley sat down for an interview with “The Today Show” in a gorgeous coral dress from Peter Som‘s resort 2012 collection. I’m still dying to get a fully body shot of her in this, but from what I can see – this was a perfect look for her. I’d love to see Ashley embrace this color more in the new year.

Taylor Lautner in Alexander McQueen & Anto Beverly Hills Taylor Lautner in Alexander McQueen & Anto Beverly HillsTaylor Lautner made his interview and carpet rounds during the tour playing it safe in button down shirts and seamless suits. There’s nothing wrong with clean lines or classic pieces, but I was so excited when he ditched his ‘businessman’ look for this blue suit by Alexander McQueen that he rocked with a wine-colored silk tie.
Taylor looks great in blue, and there was proof of that when he attended an interview at “The Today Show” in this bright buttoned down shirt. All of Taylor’s shirts for the press tour were custom-made by Anto Beverly Hills.

Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli & Christian Serratos

Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli & Christian Serratos’ Stylish Premiere Looks!
Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone both selected suits by Dolce & Gabbana for their big black carpet moment at the Los Angeles premiere. While Kellan was daring and dashing in all-black, Jackson had fun in deep red crushed velvet. Peter Facinelli, their on-screen vampire father, was smooth in a black suit that he brightened up with a printed blue scarf.
One of the stand-out ladies for me that night was Christian Serratos. The 21-year-old actress was luminous in a shocking pink gliding strapless column gown by Alexander McQueen! Her use of jewelry was still perfect in my mind; instead of overwhelming with a chunky necklace, Christian rocked a slim twisting arm band.

Stephenie Meyer in Kate Spade & Carolina Herrera
Stephenie Meyer in Kate Spade & Carolina Herrera She’s not a star of the franchise (although she’s had little cameos in two movies), but she is the woman who started it all.
Stephenie Meyer, author of the “Twilight” saga, was one of the Twi-ladies who caught my eye this year. It was obvious that the mother of three slimmed down tremendously this year when she arrived at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre printing ceremony for Robert, Taylor, and Kristen. How adorable was her printed skirt dress by Kate Spade with a little bow at the waist? The dress is sleeveless, but Stephenie dressed for the breezy weather with a black cardigan adorned with a vintage brooch.
Stephenie hit another high note when she attended the Los Angeles premiere later that month in a sparkling black and gold cocktail dress by Carolina Herrera that she paired with platform peep toe pumps. It was Ms. Herrera who was also able to bring Stephenie’s dream of Bella’s fictional wedding dress to life for the film. Kristen’s on-screen character got my Best of 2011 bridal vote for the stunning Chantilly lace-detailed handmade gown she donned for her wedding.
