Flo Rida And fun. Set To Perform At The 2012 Do Something! Awards

The Do Something! Awards are like a magnet for some of the best talent around, and the 2012 ceremony will be as star-studded as ever. This year, we’re excited to announce that Flo Ridaand fun. are going to be featured performers at the star-studded show, and we can also confirm that Twilight star Ashley Greene and singer Jordin Sparks are on tap to present. As we’ve mentioned before, our own celebrity crushes, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson and Lamorne Morris of New Girl are all co-hosting, but with these new additions to the roster, we’re even more excited for this thing. The 2012 Do Something! Awards will air on VH1 on Tuesday, August 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and it’s not too late to vote for your favorite do-gooder celebs right here. NEW YORK, NY (July 27, 2012) — DoSomething.org and VH1 announced today that Flo Rida and fun. will perform as part of the star-studded 2012 Do Something Awards (#DSAwards) along with celebrity presenters Ashley Greene and Jordin Sparks. Hosted by the hilarious New Girlstars Jake Johnson, Emmy-nominated Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, the ceremony will honor and celebrate the nation’s best young world-changers who represent the pivotal “do-ers” in their field, cause or issue.

Celebrities Kristen Bell, Ben Affleck, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Nicole Richie, Neil Patrick Harris, Channing Tatum, Emma Stone, and many more have been nominated in a variety of categories from ‘Do Something Movie Star’ to ‘Do Something Couple’ for all they have done to inspire young people. Many will be on hand to accept and present the awards at the show which will air Tuesday, August 21, 2011 at 9:00pm EST on VH1. Having sold more than 60 million singles worldwide, the Miami-based rapper released his fourth studio album Wild Ones this month, featuring chart-topping hits “Good Feeling,” “Wild Ones” and “Whistle.” Flo Rida burst onto the scene in 2007 with his record-breaking #1 hit, “Low (Feat. T-Pain),” which spent 10 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard “Hot 100.” In 2009, Flo Rida broke his own record when “Right Round”
made history with more than 636,000 digital sales in its first week of release – still the biggest debut digital sales week for any single ever. Only 1 Flo, Pt. 1 appeared in 2010 featuring tracks produced by dance music star David Guetta.

Recently name one of the “30 Greatest Artists of Right Now” by Entertainment Weekly, fun., comprised of Nate Ruess, Jack Antonoff, and Andrew Dost, have had a breakout year fueled by their smash hit “We Are Young (Feat. In addition to honoring celebrities for their work to inspire others, and a night filled with great musical performances, one young “do-er” (age 25 and under) will receive a grand prize of $100,000 for their cause. This is the largest and most prestigious prize in the world for young people and social change.

This year’s five nominees have gone above and beyond to make a difference addressing important issues ranging from educating the youth of Honduras, helping the Ethiopian Sudanese community, advocating for foster children, mobilizing creative healing while encouraging creative development and raising awareness of the global water crisis. All nominees will be rewarded with a $10,000 community grant and continued support from DoSomething.org. Nominees includeManyang Reath Kher, Meg Bourne, Danny Mendoza, Katia Gomez, and Seth Maxwell.

VH1 Costar is meant to be a companion while you watch all your favorite VH1 series. Users can watch video extras, browse photos, answer trivia and unlock badges. The WatchWith feature filters and records the best comments from all viewer tweets and marries them to the timeline of the show. It uses the viewer’s iPad (or iPhone’s) GPS to know the viewing timezone. Since 2007, the Do Something Awards have continued their mission of inspiring, supporting and celebrating a generation of doers.
