'New Moon' Wolves Plan To Get Real Tattoos Together

Chaske Spencer and company (minus Taylor Lautner) want to commemorate their bond with ink.

BEVERLY HILLS, California — In the "Twilight" novels and movies, the rapidly developing young men of the Quileute tribe are described with lots of different adjectives: secretive, loyal, playful, even cultish. And the fresh-faced actors bringing the wolf pack to life in "New Moon" seem to have formed a similar bond in real life. That bond is so strong, the foursome may immortalize their friendship the same way the Quileute do — with ink.

"Yeah, we've talked about that. We're all getting tattoos," Chaske Spencer, who plays pack leader Sam Uley, told MTV News recently. Spencer, Kiowa Gordon, Alex Meraz and Bronson Pelletier are planning to mark their right arms with the same circular design each has in the "Twilight Saga" movies.

"On the film, we've all bonded," he said. "We all bonded when we went to start doing the workout sessions and stuff. We hang out with each other a lot, off-set and on-set. We go to the movies, hang out in clubs and stuff. So, it's like I've gained three brothers."

In the movie, each member of the pack has a black, circular, vaguely tribal marking (which fans have dissected online) on his right arm. Even Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black surprises Bella when she sees his tattoo, revealing that he has become a man in the eyes of the Quileute.

Sometime near the end of the series, the plan is that they'll make a trip to the tattoo parlor together. "Maybe by 'Breaking Dawn,' you know?" Meraz said, suggesting that their tats in that film might be the real deal. "By the end of everything, if it all goes down well, we're getting tattoos."

"All of us," agreed Spencer, the biggest of the group.

There may, however, be one dissenter. When we asked Bronson Pelletier about the pledge the foursome had made (Taylor Lautner is not believed to be included), the actor who plays Jared stumbled a bit. "Well, I'm still ...," he said, flustered.

"You're getting a tattoo!" insisted Spencer, putting an end to the indecision.

"You heard him," Pelletier shrugged. "I'm getting a tattoo."
