For months we were help in suspense waiting to find out what the Twilight wedding dress would look like - and we've finally seen the dress, and can now even buy the Alfred Angelo replica. But what was it like to land the coveted role of designing The Dress? And what was it like working withKristen Stewart?"In the initial fitting when Kristen put the dress on and looked in the mirror, she was very moved," Carolina Herrera told Vogue in an interview. "In that moment she was not an actress or a character in a film, she was a bride, and a happy one at that.  It is always very important to make the bride happy, of course, and in this case I was delighted to do so.  It was a very special moment for both Kristen and the character of Bella to share."

"I was of course inspired by Stephenie's description of the gown in the book, but I added the touch of Herrera and also took into consideration the personality and the style of the bride," said Herrera.  "A wedding dress is both an intimate and personal for a woman - it must reflect the personality and style of the bride.  Bella's dress is romantic and filled with a timeless sophistication, very similar to the character. In a way, this dress served as a symbol of the character's coming of age and introduction into womanhood."

"It is always a unique process to design a wedding because every bride is different; the dress always has to be special because it is the most important day in the life of a woman. I tried doing that with this dress, but this one of course is totally different because at the end it's a film - a cultural phenomenon. Millions of people are going to watch and it had to be precise."

Herrera is known for her feminine classic wedding gowns and designed Renee Zellweger and Mad Men's Christina Hendricks' gowns.

The Twilight gown - a handmade demure, floor-length style with a Bardot neckline and short train - is available to buy from Herrera boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, Bal Harbour and Dallas from January 2012.

Bella's 'Breaking Dawn' Wedding Dresses: Which Would You Wear?

Not going to lie, I don't think I can choose.  They are both beautiful in their own right.

It was a "Breaking Dawn" wedding favor we hadn't seen coming: Bella Swan in not one but two gorgeous gowns. There was the form-fitting Carolina Herrera confection we'd long expected, of course, but in a pre-nuptial nightmare, we also saw the soon-to-be Mrs. Cullen flaunt a very different frock at a gruesome, blood-soaked ceremony.

Now, whether brides rush out to purchase the elegant Carolina Herrera remains to be seen, but retailers are making the dress easier to come by than an at-home sonogram machine. Designer Alfred Angelo worked alongside Summit Entertainment to produce a replica of the gown, which hit store racks Monday for a relatively reasonable $799. And next year, Carolina herself will sell the gown at her CHNY boutiques (no word on the price tag just yet). But am I the only one who would much rather wear the nightmare dress (so to speak)?

Don't get me wrong, the Carolina Herrera number is beautiful, and much more fitting of the aesthetic Stephenie Meyer describes in her final "Twilight" novel, but if I were to select a gown for my own wedding, I'd pick the poufy, strapless number designed by Michael Wilkinson and his "Breaking Dawn" costume department.

After years of speculating who will design Bella’s wedding dress for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, Summit Entertainment confirmedCarolina Herrera as the official pick last night! “It is always a great pleasure to design any wedding gown, but this one was particularly special,” Herrera said in an official statement today. “Kristen is a stunning girl and her character, Bella will make a beautiful bride.” InEclipse, Bella’s dress is described as an early 1900s design with Maid of Honor Alice Cullen’s modern tweaks to the train and veil.
