Graham Greene Joins New Show

'Dances With Wolves' Star Joins Syfy's 'Defiance' Drama Series (Exclusive)

Graham Greene, who also appeared in "New Moon," has been cast in the upcoming TV show.

Syfy's upcoming drama seriesDefiance has added an Academy Award nominee to its cast.

Graham Greene, who was a nominated for an Oscar forDances With Wolves and played a supporting role in theTwilight film New Moon, has been tapped to join the futuristic series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

From Syfy and Trion Worlds,Defiance centers on a transformed Earth, inhabited by the survivors of a universal war. Forced to co-habitate, the group struggles to build a new society among the devastation.

Greene will play Rafe McCawley, a self-made success who owns and operates the largest mine in the territory. His status as the richest and most powerful human in Defiance comes with a price, however, as he struggles to navigate both familial and political alliances in the new world.

He joins previously announced cast members Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran and Jaime Murray in the show, which unites scripted TV with massive multiplayer online gaming (MMOG).

The pilot will be directed by Scott Stewart (Legion, Priest) and written/executive produced by Rockne O'Bannon (Farscape), Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives) and Michael Tyalor (Battlestar Galactica). Murphy will serve as showrunner. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, filming begins in Toronto in April.

Greene, repped by Jordan & Associates, had a recurring role on Canadian TV series Being Erica. Recent big-screen credits include Man on the Train, Valley of the Sun, Casino Jackand the upcoming Chasing Shakespeare and The Stupidest Angel.

The cast member today is very talented and has been in MANY movies and shows...

Graham Greene!!!


Graham has a small part in Twilight Saga: New Moon (November 20).  He plays Harry Clearwater, best friend of Charlie and Billy.  Harry's death is one of the catalysts of the reunion of Bella and Edward.  Because of his death, Jacob tells Edward that Charlie is at a funeral (where he thinks it is Bella's).


He has a very impressive resume of films and TV shows.  Some include Where the Spirit Lives, L.A. Law, Northern Exposure, The Education of Little Tree, Wolf Lake, and Just Buried.  Those are to just name a few.  Some other big ones are Snow Dogs, Maverick, Die Hard: With a Vengeance and The Green Mile.


After we see him in New Moon, he will also be in Valley of the Sun, Running Mates, and Gunless.


He is an Oneida Indian and was awarded honorary doctor of law degree in June 2008, from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario Canada, close to the Oneida reserve where he is from.

Graham has been representing his heritage for many years and trying to put Native Americans in positive light and not stereotypical.  It is great for the Native community to have so many great actors.  The Twilight Saga is a step in the right direction for this.
