'Twilight Breaking Dawn': Jackson Rathbone 'loves playing Jasper

Jackson Rathbone has opened up about playing Jasper in The Twilight Saga. 

The 26-year-old revealed that he admires the character's attempt to cling to his humanity in spite of his nature to be a killer. 

"It's definitely the thing I love about Jasper the most," Rathbone toldMovieline. "He's fighting his instincts in order to maintain that last shred of humanity."


The actor went on to admit that he finds playing Jasper to be exciting because the character is so different from himself.

"I get to play such a strict very, very, very still character who's quiet and thoughtful and trying to resist temptation of his instinct," Rathbone said. "I'm a very relaxed, easy-going guy, so to play kind of a buttoned up figure like Jasper was very exciting."

Rathbone's Twilight co-star Ashley Greene recently claimed that the popular franchise will not define her acting career, insisting that she feels as though she is just getting started.

Earlier this week Robert Pattinson revealed that Kristen Stewart was "terrified" of filming the wedding scene in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

New 'Twilight' Doll: Jasper Joins The Family At Toy Fair 2011

Have you always wanted a tiny Cullen family member of your own to keep in your purse, display on your nightstand or keep you company in the bath? ...Um, no, of course not! Us neither! (And if we dash off in the middle of this conversation, it's definitely not because we're going to hide that Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle diorama behind our shampoo.)

But for your Hollywood Crush editors girls who like this sort of thing, a new "Twilight" character debuted at this year's Toy Fair 2011 in doll form; Jasper action figures are soon to be available for purchase, and Tonner Doll Co. representative Robert Tonner gave us a sneak peak at the itty-bitty vampire.

The company got "likeness rights" for the doll, which means that Jasper looks exactly like Jackson Rathbone. (Honestly, it's kind of freaky!) And according to Mr. Tonner, while some actors aren't so happy about being reproduced in doll form, both Jackson and Ashley Greene have been ultra-cool and on-board with being miniaturized for the benefit of Twi-hards everywhere.

Looking to round out your plastic Cullen family with Jasper? You can snag him later this summer... just in time to dress him up, buy him some popcorn and bring him as your date to the premiere of "Breaking Dawn."

Twilight Saga at the 2011 Toy Fair

First look at Alice and Jasper Tonner Dolls
Toys, toys, toys everywhere! This year’s Toy Fair kicked off yesterday, introducing a gaggle of action figures built around new movie franchises, upcoming videogames, and attractive vampire teenagers. Tons of photos from the event have shown up online, but I’d like to direct your attention to freakishly real-looking toys in particular. The “Jasper” figure (see left) from Twilight perfectly captures Jackson Rathbone’s elfen cheekbones — parents of 9-year-old girls, I present you with the only birthday present your daughter will really want this year. The Green Lantern action figure is also pretty spot-on — although Ryan Reynolds’ hair looks a little bit too Harry Osborn-esque — but what’s interesting is how organic-looking they’ve made the costume. It almost looks vaguely insectile.

Did you know that Valentine’s Day isn’t just a candy-company holiday? The origins of the holiday date back to 500 AD. We’re sure that Justin Russo and Juliet Van Heusen (Wizards of Waverly Place) could tell you all about it considering Juliet is almost that old.
While we miss Justin and Juliet lots, we are loving some other couples on TV right now. While we wait for Hanna Marin and Lucas Gottesman (Pretty Little Liars) to realize that they’re made for each other, we’ll rejoice that Cody Martin and Bailey Pickett (The Suite Life on Deck) are finally back together and enjoy every minute we still have Jo Taylor and Kendall Knight (Big Time Rush).
And on the big screen? We’re so looking forward to watch Nathan protect Karen (Abduction) while they’re on the run; gasp when Kyle Kingsbury gives Lindy Owens (Beastly) not only a rose garden but his heart too; and fall in love with Nova Prescott and Jesse Richter (Prom).
Of course, we can’t forget the real love stories of Kevin and Danielle Jonas and Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop.

Jackson considers fight between 'Twilight,' 'The Last Airbender' characters

Two movies, two wildly bad haircuts: Jackson Rathbone of  "Twilight" and "The Last Airbender" fame thinks that, even after major projects like his, there are some things you just shouldn't take with you. Jasper Hale in the vampire series, the 25-year-old actor stars in the new M. Night Shyamalan film adaptation as Sokka, a protective older brother and warrior with one gnarly ponytail.
However, he and co-star Nicola Peltz both felt there were valuable lessons to be learned on and off the set of "Airbender," from the challenging physical aspects -- such as Tai chi -- to the philosophies behind the fights.
Shyamalan wanted his actors to focus on "the spirituality behind the ideas of Kung Fu, not so much just to use it as a weapon but a connection between mind and body and spirit," Rathbone said in an interview with HitFix.
Peltz also had to weigh in as to whether Sokka or Jasper would win in a fight against each other. Rathbone can't make up his mind, based on some theory on diminsions, be we were already too afraid by then to get a straight answer.

'Twilight' Vs. 'The Last Airbender': Jackson Rathbone's Characters Face Off!

'I'm just lucky they live in two different dimensions,' the actor tells MTV News.

Jackson Rathbone is a busy guy these days. With featured roles in not one but two of this week's biggest releases, the "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "The Last Airbender" actor is doing the press rounds and fielding questions from just about every media outlet in the world.
Don't worry, though, MTV News still managed to ask him the most important question of them all: Who would win in a fight between his boomerang-wielding "Airbender" character Sokka and his "Twilight" vampire Jasper?

Given the magnitude of the question, it's no surprise he had to stall for time and defer to "Airbender" co-star Nicola Peltz when MTV News posed the question.
"Sokka, no question," Peltz said.
Pressed for an explanation as to why her "Airbender" character's brother, who can't "bend" water and doesn't have any special abilities other than a good throwing arm, could hold his own against the "Twilight" bloodsucker, Peltz reiterated that Sokka would be the victor if the two ever faced off.
"Definitely Sokka," she said. "He has a boomerang!"
Rathbone, on the other hand, took a more neutral — though decidedly less fun — stance on the debate.
"I'm just lucky they live in two different dimensions, two different worlds," he said, going the safe route. "It's an honor to be a part of these two big franchises that seem to have captivated the world in one form or another, and I'm just privileged to be able to do what I love to do."
With "Eclipse" arriving in theaters Wednesday (June 30) and "The Last Airbender" premiering Thursday, it looks like audiences will be able to decide for themselves soon enough.
