50 Greatest Harry Potter Characters

It's not all about the Boy Who Lived... (Hallows Pt 2 Spoilers!)
As the final Potter film rolls into cinemas, we count down fifty of the magical saga's greatest characters. Spoilers (including Hallows Pt 2) ahead...

45. Cedric Diggory

As Played By: Robert Pattinson

The Character: Bucking the Hufflepuff trend for churning out loveable, cuddly, pussycat types, Diggory cuts rather a dash around Hogwarts, working the female students into a frenzy with his easy charm and chiselled good looks. Initially rivals with Harry in the build-up to the Triwizard Tournament, the two form a gradual bond of respect, before Voldemort throws a spanner in the works in the graveyard at Little Hangleton…

Key Quote:
“Harry, take my body back will you? Take my body back to my father.”

Scary 'Potter': Harry's Seven Horror-Movie Moments:Death to Sparkles

Harry Potter
by Rhianne Bergado
Death to Sparkles
Before the Twilight series set hormones on fire across the world, Robert Pattinson played Cedric Diggory, the dreamboat jock of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Naturally he had to die.  Digory's vivid and sudden death in The Goblet of Fire is the turning point for the entire series - a  moment that makes the threat of the villains real and lets audiences know that no one is safe from here on out. Harry may save the day, but even he can't save everyone.

Cedric's death makes "Top 15 Harry Potter Moments so far"

.
The Diggorys
2. "That's my boy! That's my SON!" (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) Each film in the series has its fair share of moments to tug at the heart-strings but the scene following Harry's pivotal and deadly confrontation with Voldemort may just top them all. With all the magical elements, set pieces, plot points and crazy creatures, the Potterverse can often be mistaken for pure fiction and fantasy but the senseless death of Harry's fellow Tri-Wizard competitor Cedric Diggory (played by Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson) is all too real. Harry's grief after witnessing his death is understandable, especially for someone whose short life has been filled with so much pain, but nothing can quite prepare anyone for Amos Diggory's heart-wrenching and anguished cry at the sight of his dead son.

Universal Orlando plans to represent Cedric Diggory on it's Harry Potter Dragon Challenge attraction

Faithfulness to the film series trumped thoroughness in the case of the Dragon Challenge attraction. Many fans, including one audience member on this night, have noted that there are no banners or signs posted in the attraction’s queue in support of popular character Cedric Diggory (played in Goblet of Fire by a pre-Twilight Robert Pattinson). Paul Daurio fielded this question himself, “I want to personally apologize for not representing for Cedric and the Hufflepuff house.” Big applause erupted from the crowd. He continued, “We literally took the exact film reference as our reference for the movie. Every single handmade banner you walk past on your path through the Forbidden Forest into the Dragon Challenge is from the scene in Harry Potter and [...] the Goblet of Fire.” But in the end, Daurio admitted change is on the way, saying, “We plan to represent Cedric.” Even bigger applause.

Twilight vs. Harry Potter: Team Rob or Team Rob

so hard to choose! >.<
young Rob is so adorable!
Robert Pattinson Summit Entertainment; Warner Bros.
It's the final round of our Twi-Potter Tournament, a weeklong showdown with daily duels between the two smash-hit franchises. Today's face-off is between Robert Pattinson's roles in each series:
Cedric Diggory: With his bright smile and ruddy cheeks, Rob is simply dashing as the doomed captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. And he had great hair even then!
Edward Cullen: Um yeah, even without color in his cheeks, this is the role that made R.Pattz an international superstar.

Twi-Potter Tournament: Round 7

Which of Rob's roles rates with you?

  • Edward Cullen
  • Cedric Diggory
Results may be delayed up to 120 seconds...
