Dakota: Seeing Myself As Jane In Eclipse Is “Scary”

We sat down with Dakota Fanning recently while the young actress was doing press for the Twilight Saga: Eclipse in New York. Amazingly, we managed to avoid gawking at the starlet long enough to ask her a few questions about her role as Jane in the Twilight franchise, her friendship with co-star Kristen Stewart and how she handles the paparazzi that stalk her and her celebrity pals. We’ve got the first clip above - check back tomorrow for the second half of our interview. And now, to answer your burning questions about Dakoters (as we like to call her):

• Yes, she is totally poised, pleasant and gives off an air of being much older than she is.
• Yes, she was wearing  a pair of killer, strappy gray heels and skinny jeans.

Meet the Volturi...a quick run down of the Royal family of Vampires.  Its like cliff notes for the characters in New Moon.

New to New Moonare the Volturi vampires. If you haven’t read theTwilight Saga books or want to learn more about the actors who playthe Volturi in New Moon, don’t worry — OK!’s got you covered!

The Volturi are the coven of vampires that enforce the laws of the vampire world from the city of Volterra, Italy. They act as guardians to keep vampires hidden from humans and invite other vampires to join their coven with powerful gifts.

Meet the Volturi
Leaders

Michael Sheen: Aro

Volturi: One of three leaders of the Volturi. He possesses the gift of tactile telepathy where he can get all the thoughts a person has ever had with one touch.

Human: Michael is from Newport, Wales and is best known for his roles in Frost/Nixon, The Deal and The Queen. He starred opposite Heath Ledger, Wes Bently and Kate Hudson in Four Feathers and opposite Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. Kate was his former long time girlfriend and they have a daughter together, Lily Mo Sheen.

Volturi Quote: “If I hadn’t smelled her through your memories, I wouldn’t have believed the call of anyone’s blood could be so strong. I’ve never felt anything like it myself. Most of us would trade much for such a gift, and yet you…”

Human Quote: Michael Sheen told the LA Times that his 10-year-old daughter Lily introduced him to the Twilight books and doesn’t want to disappoint her. “People have such passionate feelings about the books as I know through my daughter — there’s nothing more terrifying in some ways than the passions of teenage girls.”

Christopher Heyerdahl: Marcus

Volturi: Marcus is the most detached of the Volturi leaders. He has the ability to recognize relationships and is surprised by the intensity of the relationship between Edward and Bella.

Human: Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl has had roles in many popular TV shows including: Supernatural, Smallville and Are You Afraid of the Dark? He is also a gifted hockey player.

Volturi Quote: “You already know what you’ll do, Aro.”

Human Quote: Christopher told Sci Fi Wire that being a vampire “was very complex to play, especially when you are doing it with so few lines. It will be interesting to see how it is cut together.”

Jamie Campbell Bower: Caius

Volturi: Insists Bella can not leave Italy alive and identified as the cruelest of the three leaders. He does not have any special vampire skills.

Human: Jamie is from London and also stars in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2 as Gellert Grindelwald.

Volturi Quote: “If she betrays our secrets, are you prepared to destroy her? I think not.”

Human Quote: Jamie dished on the nude scene in New Moon to MTV.com that,“We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene.”

Dakota's on set interview

Happy Saturday guys! I will be popping in and out for the next few hours, but I've got some stuff to take care of while here in LA! Can I just say that I am extremely disappointed for missing Charlie Bewley's Twitter Q&A. Why no one phoned me and woke me, I have no idea. But I am sad/mad!!!

Dakota Fanning Says Jane 'Blows Your Mind' In 'New Moon'

f director Chris Weitz's shining endorsement of Jane's evil nature wasn't enough to prove to Twilighters that Dakota Fanning has officially joined the dark side in"Twilight: New Moon," a new interview with Fanning herself adds fuel to the fire about just how bad Jane is.

"I think it's more fun to play a bad person than a good person," Dakota told "Extra"about the evil Volturi vampire. "She almost blows your mind how evil she is."

Weitz recently shared with MTV News that the dark role seemed like a perfect career move for the normally sweet Fanning. "She's never really gotten to play a bad person before, probably because she is a very good person. She is really a lovely young person. But I think she had some fun playing, really, the most evil of all the bad guys," Weitz said. "[Jane]'s bad news. Very bad."

The actress also joked about the white face powder she wore for the flick. "I thought I was pale before I did the movie, but I realized that I'm not!" Dakota said.

And Fanning's co-star Robert Pattinson can't believe how his vampire-appropriate pale British skin has made him a sex symbol these days, according to "Extra." "It's funny. People were like, 'He looks like a junkie,' " he recalled. "And now, 'Oh, he's so good-looking!' "

Pattinson also discussed managing to adjust to life in the public eye, something he's been open about in multiple interviews since he found superstardom in "Twilight." "I get nervous about everything. I get nervous about leaving the house!" he said. "Now I know it's too late to change my name. I really wanted to change my name to have a stage name. Now if I change it, I just look really lame."

Dakota likes being the bad girl

I love Dakota. Ever since I watched I Am Sam, I was just blown away by how incredibly talented she is! She is so young and she has already accomplished so much. I can't wait to see Dakota in The Runaways staring alongside our little KStew!!

Dakota Fanning Has 'More Fun' Being the Bad Girl

From child star to vicious bloodsucker -- Dakota Fanning has transformed into the baddest newbie in "New Moon" and she loved every second of it.

"I think it's more fun to play a bad person than a good person," Dakota admits of her character Jane, a member of the evil Volturi vampire clan. "She almost blows your mind how evil she is."

Fanning, 15, wore red contacts and white powder in the film. "I thought I was pale before I did the movie, but I realized that I'm not!" Dakota jokes.

Like Dakota, vampire Robert Pattinson kept his skin fair for the shooting of the movie -- and tells "Extra" he thinks it's funny that his pale disposition, once considered sickly, makes girls swoon. "It's funny. People were like, 'He looks like a junkie.' And now, 'Oh, he's so good looking!'"

Rob, 23, still isn't completely comfortable with life in the spotlight. "I get nervous about everything. I get nervous about leaving the house!" Anonymity for the rising star is no longer an option. "Now I know it's too late to change my name. I really wanted to change my name to have a stage name. Now if I change it, I just look really lame."

Taylor Lautner can relate to Rob's feeling about fame. "Oh man, it's so embarrassing," he tells "Extra," laughing.
