A Twilight Phenomenon?

With 80 million copies of Stephenie Meyer's best selling Saga sold worldwide, in 40 different languages. There was no question that Twilight would take the world by storm. It seems that every where you go, Twilight is in your face. Everything down to movies, to shower curtains. If you want some Edward, you get some Edward. If you want some Jake, you get some Jake. What about all of the other characters, though? The smaller parts that everyone sometimes seems to forget? Well we here at Twilight Ninjas. Know where you can find them!

Every dream of having a conversation with your own, personal brand of Edward? How about walking down the La Push beach beside your best friend who just so happens to be a Wolf? Ever wish you had the ability to read minds, see the future, control moods, change a situation, pain someone, blind someone with an image? Well..today is your lucky day!

Over the past few days, we here at the site have been doing a bit of research on this new phenom. In the Twilight world. Twilight Role Playing (RP).

New sites seem to be popping up on a daily basis. Everywhere you look on Twitter and Myspace you are seeing Edward, Bella, Jake, Esme, Carlisle, Alice, Aro, Demetri, Felix and so on. For those of you who are not aware, let me break it down simple for you. Twilight RP gives you the opportunity to play out your favorite character. Escape real life and enter into the world of fantasy.

Over the next few days, Twilight Ninjas will be speaking with a few sites finding out more about them, finding out what it is that makes Twilight Role Playing so appealing to the fandom.

Today we break it down for you with an inside look from two sites. One that has just celebrated it's 3 month anniversary, and the other fairly new.

So sit back, grab a drink, and enter the world of Twilight Role Play.

1) FOREVER TWILIGHT-

"Happily ever after never looked so dark "
Twilight Ninjas sat down with Site Creator and Admin- Mistress Sulpicia for a few questions.

TN: What gave you the idea to start http://www.forevertwilightnetwork.ning.com ?
MS: It started with my love for the Saga and for role palying. I wanted to improve on some things from my last site and decided to start my own.

TN: In your opinion, what is it about the Twilight Saga that has fans wanting to role play as their favorite characters?
MS: Wishing that they could live their lives. In our opinion, perfect beautiful lives.

TN: Every day it seems that a new site revolving around Twilight Role Playing pops up. Do you believe that this is something that will become wildly known within the Twilight fandom?
MS: I think it is already wildly known.Everyday more people are finding out about it and wanting to be a part of it.

TN: Can you break down the process of getting a role? Is their an audition? Any specific requirements?
MS: When someone comes  for a role,I ask them if they have Role Played before first off.It isn't a requirement but it does help.I watch how they type as they talk to me,I look for spelling and grammar errors. We pride ourselves on reading book like. The only requirement I have is that they are 18+ as we are an adult  site.I only audition if I feel it is necessary, some are already seasoned Role Players.

TN: What are some things you can guarantee your followers, featured members and fans of Forever Twilight?
MS: Followers and fans will see great storylines and amazing dedicated players.Featured members will see a site creator that respects and cares about them and is committed and dedicated to making this the best site possible.
For more information on how you to can act out your favorite Twilight character, please go to http://www.forevertwilightnetwork.ning.com

So there you have it folks. Our first look into the world of Twilight Role Playing. As someone who has had a first hand glimpse into this world, I highly suggest taking a look. Thank to @MistressSul  for speaking with us. Stay tuned for tomorrow where we get another glimpse into the world of Fantasy.

New Moon style pt 3

Time for the Volturi style guide.

'New Moon' Style EXCLUSIVE! Your Ultimate Guide To The Costumes, Part 3: The Volturi

For the third and final part to our exclusive interview with the woman behind the "New Moon"wardrobe closet, costume designer Tish Monaghan, we're heading to Volterra, Italy where beneath the Tuscan sunshine lives a coven of vampires who posesses incredible power ... and style. After you venture to Europe, don't forget to travel back to Forks for our look at the costumes of Edward and Bella and Jacob and the Cullens.

TIME AND PUNISHMENT
Tish’s starting off point for creating the look of (very old) Volturi? “What I did originally was go back as far in antiquity as I could to where there were visual representations of judicial gowns in sculptures and paintings. I wanted to find something that the audience would recognize as an official robe, but still have the flavor of the 14th or 15th century.” The heavy wool robes were made by the costume department, though each had a different kind of trim and sleeve detail.

MEN IN BLACK
“There’s this whole color reference to the Volturi,” the costumer explained. “Aro (Michael Sheen) is the pinnacle of the power structure. He has to wear the blackest of black of black. That’s dictated in the script. Everyone else that works with him moves away from the deepness of that color scale. Whoever is closest in power to him, is nearing his colors.” Here, Michael wears a Zegna suit, purchased in Canada after the actor tried on five others. “We wanted something that looked very slick, very well fitted, with beautiful fabric.”

CODE RED
Tish said she chose to outfit Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower, center) in that red scarf because she wanted a color tie-in to the festival happening outside the Volturi chambers — however the paisley one pictured (purchased in Vancouver’s Little India) wasn’t the original candidate for the job. The night before filming, the one-of-a-kind scarf that Tish planned to use was the unfortunate victim of an aging experiment. “I wanted to make it look a little bit old, which involved putting it in cool water and hanging it up to dry.” Instead, the accessory shrunk and had holes in it. “I still have it with me — I use it as a reminder!”
Get the look: "Red/ Multi Classic Silk Scarf" from Overstock.com ($32)

BECOMING JANE
“In my mind, I was envisioning a sweet/evil Little Red Riding Hood,” Tish said of dressing Dakota Fanning as Jane. “There were no specifics in the script given to the time period that she emerged from. I just chose to go after a Victorian look from the 1880s to 1900s.” It was Chris Weitz’s idea, however, to attach the extra cape to Jane’s custom-made wool grey hooded coat — a piece that was over-dyed to make it more black “because she is one of the most powerful of the group.” Paired with Dakota’s outer garb was an off-white Philip Lim dress (that we never see) and Mary Jane shoes by Camper.
Get the look: "Belted Cape" by Spiegel ($99)

BODY GUARD
After using men’s fall runway shows as a reference — Jill Saunders, Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen provided the best inspirations — Tish says she was able to construct a silhouette that matched the minimalist feel she wanted for the 10+ Volturi guard members’ (like Charlie Bewleyand Daniel Cudmore, pictured) “very heavy” wool coats. “I wanted them to look like statues.”
For more on the costumes — and to hear Tish describe them in her own words — press play below. And don't miss the rest of our "New Moon" style guide: Part 1 (Edward and Bella) and Part 2(Jacob and the Cullens).

Run to Italy

With New Moon coming out soon, there is a new tourist sight.  Everyone is going to Italy to see the the Volturi layer.

'Twilight' Tourism: Fans Flock To Italy To See Official Home Of The Volturi

If you're a true "Twilight" fanatic, you've probably already taken -- or at least started planning -- a vacation to Forks, Washington, the main setting for Stephenie Meyer's books and their film adaptations. Maybe you were one of the participants in June's Summer School in Forks. Or maybe you're on a tight budget, and so had to make do with the documentary "Twilight in Forks."
Well now you need to go a little further to prove yourself die-hard Twilighter status. According to USA Today, the latest hot spot destination for fans is Volterra, Italy. The small Tuscan town is home to the Volturi vampire coven, which features prominently in the latest movie installment, "New Moon."
Just like in Forks, the tourism office of Volterra encourages fans to visit and even offers travel packages that include a "New Moon"-based walking tour called "Hot on the Trail of Edward and Bella," among other attractions. Meanwhile, souvenir shops around Volterra sell all kinds of "Twilight" merchandise and a website called NewMoonVolterra.com has been advertising local events tied to the new sequel leading up to Wednesday's release (yes, the film opens in Italy before the U.S.).
If you take the trip after seeing "New Moon" however, don't be surprised when Volterra looks unfamiliar. The movie was actually shot in another Tuscan town, Montepulciano, much to the dismay of Volterra officials. Of course, if you're going to fly all the way to Italy for some "Twilight" tourism, you might want to fit in both locations, which are about two hours apart by car.
I am curious, though, if Twilighters are even that interested in or concerned with the alternate spots used on screen. The movies haven't filmed in Forks either, yet fans head there because that's the town named in the books, supposedly chosen randomly by Meyer. Comparatively, much of the tourism related to the "Harry Potter" franchise is focused on the film series' shooting locations.

Meet the Volturi

Meet the Volturi...a quick run down of the Royal family of Vampires.  Its like cliff notes for the characters in New Moon.

New to New Moonare the Volturi vampires. If you haven’t read theTwilight Saga books or want to learn more about the actors who playthe Volturi in New Moon, don’t worry — OK!’s got you covered!
The Volturi are the coven of vampires that enforce the laws of the vampire world from the city of Volterra, Italy. They act as guardians to keep vampires hidden from humans and invite other vampires to join their coven with powerful gifts.
Meet the Volturi
Leaders

Michael Sheen: Aro
Volturi: One of three leaders of the Volturi. He possesses the gift of tactile telepathy where he can get all the thoughts a person has ever had with one touch.
Human: Michael is from Newport, Wales and is best known for his roles in Frost/NixonThe Deal and The Queen. He starred opposite Heath Ledger, Wes Bently and Kate Hudson in Four Feathers and opposite Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. Kate was his former long time girlfriend and they have a daughter together, Lily Mo Sheen.
Volturi Quote: “If I hadn’t smelled her through your memories, I wouldn’t have believed the call of anyone’s blood could be so strong. I’ve never felt anything like it myself. Most of us would trade much for such a gift, and yet you…”
Human Quote: Michael Sheen told the LA Times that his 10-year-old daughter Lily introduced him to the Twilight books and doesn’t want to disappoint her. “People have such passionate feelings about the books as I know through my daughter — there’s nothing more terrifying in some ways than the passions of teenage girls.”

Christopher Heyerdahl: Marcus
Volturi: Marcus is the most detached of the Volturi leaders. He has the ability to recognize relationships and is surprised by the intensity of the relationship between Edward and Bella.
Human: Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl has had roles in many popular TV shows including: SupernaturalSmallville and Are You Afraid of the Dark? He is also a gifted hockey player.
Volturi Quote: “You already know what you’ll do, Aro.”
Human Quote: Christopher told Sci Fi Wire that being a vampire “was very complex to play, especially when you are doing it with so few lines. It will be interesting to see how it is cut together.”

Jamie Campbell Bower: Caius
Volturi: Insists Bella can not leave Italy alive and identified as the cruelest of the three leaders. He does not have any special vampire skills.
Human: Jamie is from London and also stars in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2 as Gellert Grindelwald.
Volturi Quote: “If she betrays our secrets, are you prepared to destroy her? I think not.”
Human Quote: Jamie dished on the nude scene in New Moon to MTV.com that,“We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene.”
