Some Twi-fansites are reporting that Alex "stars" in the movie, but let's be honest, his character is called "Frat Boy". So really, it's just a cameo. Either way, it's always cool to see Alex on the big screen, so if you like this kind of film, go see it!

Could 2011 be a great year for movies? So far, all signs point to "yes." What It's About: Depp voices a chameleon with an identity crisis who ends up the sheriff of an Old West town.
The Buzz: Depp's character is supposedly based on gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who he played in 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.' Can turning Thompson into a lizard make a good kids movie? We can't stop here. This is lizard country!
'Red Riding Hood'
Release Date: Mar. 11
Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez, Julie Christie, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas
What It's About: A dark re-imagining of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale; here, a young girl falls for a young woodcutter who is deadly when the moon becomes full.
The Buzz: It's directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who did the first 'Twilight' and the harrowing coming-of-age film 'Thirteen.' Plus, a horror take on a fairy tale? What big ambitions you have, grandma!
'Water for Elephants'

The Buzz: 'Kick-Ass' director Matthew Vaughn is the secret weapon of this film; by setting 'First Class' in a James Bond-inspired 1960s, Vaughn's plans to make the first "silver age" comic book movie might give this franchise a burst of fresh, creative energy.
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II'

What It's About: Harry Potter and his friends seek to destroy the last of Voldemort's horcruxes, but when he discovers their intentions, the three wizards must muster all their strength to take down the evil lord in one final battle.
The Buzz: The final installment of 'Harry Potter,' this film stands to be huge; of course everyone wants to know who lives, who dies, and how the whole thing will end.
'The Help'

What It's About: Set in 1960s Mississippi, 'The Help' follows a young writer who convinces several black women to share their experiences working as maids for white families.
The Buzz: Oscar nominee Viola Davis ('Doubt'), who plays Aibileen, the first and most influential maid to be interviewed, gives us high hopes for the film, which is based on a bestselling novel by Kathyrn Stockett.
'Abduction'

Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina
What It's About: 'Twilight' hunk Taylor Lautner stars as a teen who sets out to discover the truth about himself after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website.
The Buzz: This will be Lautner's first major lead role away from the 'Twilight' series, and it'll be one that will test just how ready he is (and we are) for him to become Hollywood's next big action star.
'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part I'

What It's About: Love is in the air for our favorite couple, as Bella and Edward move one step closer to marriage and -- spoilers! -- babies.

Movies: There are just so darn many of them. Usually this is a great thing, but with 2011 now upon us, it can seem overwhelming. After all, a new year means a whole new slate of hundreds of movies, ranging from awesome to terribad. Who has the time to sort through them all? 

Well, we do. 

So don’t worry, your number one internet friend has carefully reviewed every single one of the movies coming out over the next year so that you don’t have to. We’ve gone through the scripts, talked to the actors and poured over the trailers, frame by frame, all in order to determine which films are your best bets over the next 12 months. Here are our top 50.  

‘The Roommate’

Release Date: Feb. 4
Starring: Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester, Cam Gigandet
The Scoop: Colleges are pretty scary places. Besides all that mandatory learning nonsense, you’ve got your parties and your school loans and your peer-induced social anxiety. But the scariest part of going away to college? Getting stuck with a random roommate. That’s pretty much the entire premise behind “The Roommate,” which stars Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly as co-eds who are assigned the same room — and, as it happens, the same nightmares thanks to a personal relationship that gets way, way too personal (think “Single White Female: The College Years”). It’s every student’s worst nightmare come true.

‘Rango’

Release Date: March 4
Starring: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant
The Scoop: Over the course of his long career, Johnny Depp has often been compared to a chameleon thanks to his ability to immerse himself in any role. Well, that should come in handy with “Rango,” since he is literally playing a chameleon: Rango is a lizard who, through a series of incredible circumstances, ends up becoming the sheriff of an Old West town. This animated feature reunites Depp with Gore Verbisnki, who famously directed the star in the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. If their past collaborations are any indication, this should be a fun ride. | Watch the trailer

‘Red Riding Hood’

This time around, though, Red ain’t so little; instead, she’s played by Amada Seyfried as a hot young woman whose snowbound medieval village is under attack by a werewolf. The Scoop: Hey guys, remember Catherine Hardwicke? Back in the day (that is to say, 2008), she was on top of the world, having set the record for the highest grossing film ever directed by a woman, a little something called “Twilight.” And then, she kinda got dumped by the studio. Well, now she’s back with an edgy, goth-modern take on the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood.

‘Water for Elephants’

Release Date: April 22
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
The Scoop: Move over, Dumbo, because there’s a new elephant movie in Hollywood these days and if the legion of Twi-Hards have anything to say about it, “Water for Elephants” is about to become the new gold standard in pachyderm cinema. That, of course, is because the lead role is being played by that brooding hair factory Robert Pattinson, whose famous locks are on full display in this period piece about a guy who joins a circus only to fall in love with the ringleader’s wife (Reese Witherspoon in her first cougariffic role). The ringleader, though, is “Inglourious Basterds” bastard Christoph Waltz, so RPattz just may be screwing around with the wrong guy. You know what they say: hair today, gone tomorrow. And yes, it’s okay to hate us just a little for that one. | Watch the trailer

‘The Help’

Release Date: Aug. 12
Starring: Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer
The Scoop: Fans getting worn out by the non-stop parade of high-octane blockbusters and 3-D summer tentpoles finally have another option in August when “The Help” arrives. Based on the popular period novel by Kathryn Stockett, “The Help” stars the always-awesome Emma Stone as a young girl learning the strange realities of adulthood in the Deep South of the early 1960s. She’s joined by a terrific ensemble cast that includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Cicely Tyson. Don’t be surprised if you hear more about “The Help” when award season rolls around.

‘Abduction’

Release Date: Sept. 23
Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina
The Scoop: This is the moment all Twi-Hards have been waiting for: Taylor Lautner’s first real attempt at carrying a movie as leading man. Or, man-child. Whatever you want to call it. Ever since Lautner bulked up for “New Moon,” he’s been dubbed the next big thing by everyone in Hollywood, already commanding huge paydays for his films even though so far his main success has been in the cocoon of the “Twilight” franchise. In “Abduction,” though, the whole thing is on his well-toned shoulders as Lautner plays a kid whose life takes a surreal turn when he sees his own face on a missing persons website. We think by the time “Abduction’ is over, Lautner will have found at least one thing: an A-list career.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′

Release Date: Nov. 18
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
The Scoop: The gang is back for the penultimate entry in the most popular movie series of all time (at least according to its fans). Team Jacob and Team Edward may have had their issues in the past, but now everyone is on the same side: Team Baby, as the whole world decides to gang up on Bella and Edward’s newborn and only the combined powers of vampires and love can save her. What happens next? Well, no doubt you already know from reading the novel by Stephenie Meyer a dozen times, but that’s fine; the magic is in seeing how they pull it off onscreen. And bonus points this time if they manage to film the birth scene without causing us to pass out. Eleven months and counting…

2011 Movie Guide, A to Z

As 2011 begins, it’s time for 3-D fans to celebrate.

Hollywood studio chiefs have been working overtime approving big-budget films designed for images that pop off the screen.

The 3-D titles coming this year include “The Adventures of  Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,” “Drive Angry,” “5inal Destination,” “Fright Night,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” “Gnomeo and Juliet,” “The Green Hornet,” “Happy Feet 2,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” “Kung Fu Panda 2,” “Mars Needs Moms,” “Piranha 3DD,” “Priest,” “Rio,” “Sanctum,” “Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World,” “The Three Musketeers,” “Transformers 3,” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.”

Sequels, prequels, remakes and franchise titles will also flood screens in 2011.

“The Help,” with Viola Davis (Doubt”), Bryce Dallas Howard (“Lady in the Water”) and Emma Stone (“Zombieland”) in a drama that’s set in Mississippi during the 1960s when a college student starts writing about the histories of African-American women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent white families. “Immortals,” with Stephen Dorff (“City of Industry”) and Mickey Rourke  in a mythological tale about a young warrior who must lead a battle against evil and powerful elder gods. Tarsem Singh (“The Fall”) directed. (Nov. 11)

“Priest,” with Paul Bettany (“The Tourist”) and Maggie Q (TV’s “Nikita”) in a chiller about a church official who goes against orders and embarks on a journey to save a relative from vampires. It will also be available in 3-D.Scott Charles Stewart (“Legion”) directed. (May 13)

“Red Riding Hood,” with Amanda Seyfried (“Mamma Mia!
