Top Backstage Moments From the Golden Globes

The Golden Globe Awards are a fun night out in Hollywood. The booze flows, the celebs aren't so serious (like they are at the Oscars), and the unscripted moments come fast and furious.
This year's ceremony, set for January 16, will be hosted by Ricky Gervais. He's given the show plenty of memorable (cringe-worthy?) moments in past years, but the "Extras" star is just one of many.
Below, we've listed some of the best, funniest, and most random instances of backstage drama at the Golden Globes. It's not all glamour, kids.
Jennifer Lopez confronted Gervais, who was serving as host, backstage last year. Apparently J.Lo was concerned that Gervais was going to make a joke or two at her expense. J.Lo said to Gervais, "Listen! I will kill you, you understand? I am from New York, my husband fights, we both fight, we will beat you up after the show." All in good fun!
Speaking of salty language, Meryl Streep was heard swearing like a sailor backstage in 2010. The Oscar-winning actress was talking about the language used on some blogs and how it upset Julia Child, who Streep portrayed in "Julie and Julia."
Last year, Colin Firth (who had just won best actor for his role in "The King's Speech"), was mistakenly addressed as "Colin Farrell" by the press room moderator. Awkward.
Also last year, Robert Pattinson was seen chugging a beer backstage (for all his superfans, it was a Heineken). Pattinson was considering using a bad French accent when he presented the award for best foreign-language film. Wisely, Pattinson played it straight.
But all those are just warm-ups to the ultimate unscripted Golden Globes moment. In 1998, Christine Lahti won the best actress award for her role on TV's "Chicago Hope." Michael J. Fox called her name, but Lahti was nowhere to be found. Turns out, she was in the bathroom. According to Vanity Fair, Robin Williams jumped onstage and told a few jokes until Lahti made it onstage. When you gotta go...

Golden Globe Winner for Best Foreign Film, Susanne Bier, regrets not kissing Rob

Straight Outta Denmark

When Danish director Susanne Bier delivered her acceptance speech at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, she left the audience speechless. Literally. Accepting her award for best foreign-language film from Twilightheartthrob Robert Pattinson, Bier nervously joked that her movie features “people who speak like they have potatoes shoved down their throats.” Dead silence. After several awkward seconds, the director hastily wrapped up her speech.
Weeks later, Bier still sounds chagrined. “I got a bit paralyzed,” she explains. “I’d very carefully written a speech, and I couldn’t even read it. What was worse, I did not kiss Robert Pattinson, and now my daughter is never going to speak to me again.”

Robert Pattinson's Best Golden Globes Quotes: An Illustrated Guide

In the nearly three years "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson has been on the Hollywood scene, he's uttered way too many memorable soundbites to count. Seriously, who could forget gems like, "Up until I was 12 my sisters used to dress me up as a girl and introduce me as 'Claudia!' or "A mother recently gave me her baby and asked me: 'Can you please bite her head?'" So it was little surprise when we caught up with him on the Golden Globes red carpet that he had plenty of interesting/random/hilarious things to say. In fact, his comments were so evocative, we couldn't help but picture them, and thanks to a little digital photo manipulation, now you can too. Feast your eyes on our Illustrated Guide to Robert Pattinson's Golden Globes Interview!

Our favorite blurb by far came from the portion of Rob's interview with Josh Horowitz in which he described the "Breaking Dawn" sex scene image that recently fired up the Internet."It's always awkward in a way if you're doing it with anybody," RPattz said when asked if he was more or less comfortable filming a steamy scene with Kristen Stewart rather than, say, his "Bel Ami" costarUma Thurman. "It really depends on how it's staged and stuff. It's like doing Twister." Like doing Twister, huh? Wonder what that would look like! Probably something like the photo above! With his reputation as a bit of a klutz, we give Kristen the upper hand in this game of balance and flexibility.

Peter Facinelli Hints At Dancing Vampires In 'Breaking Dawn'

Okay, okay. That headline might be a wee bit misleading. But we're only relaying what Peter Facinelli told us. You see, when we cornered the "Twilight" star at Sunday's Golden Globes and pleaded for some "Breaking Dawn" scoop, Peter had plenty to say about filming the saga's closing moments (Sad! Sniff!), but he also had an unexpected answer as to what fans can expect from director Bill Condon, known for his work on musical films like "Dreamgirls" and "Chicago."

"Lots of dance numbers," Peter said with a laugh. Funny, indeed. Could you picture the story's final showdown re-imagined as a "West Side Story"-esque dance-off? (I bet those Volturi robes would be mad-difficult to bust a move in.)
But in all seriousness, Peter did have many lovely things to say about the man in charge. "We're shooting two at once so it's a little brutal on the hours, but I think we're getting good stuff," he said. "Bill Condon's fantastic. He's just such a great actor's director. He's really collaborative, and he's a joy to work with."
That's all fine and dandy, but would it be too much to ask for a song-and-dance number to be included in the DVD's blooper reel? Pretty please!?

Shooting Final BD Scene was Sad

'Breaking Dawn' Star Peter Facinelli Says Shooting Final Scene Was 'Sad'

'It got a little melancholy,' the actor said of the recently filmed last scene of 'The Twilight Saga' finale.

Production on the two parts of "Breaking Dawn" is expected to stretch well into April, with the cast eventually departing Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to finish up shooting on the final "Twilight Saga" films in Vancouver, Canada. But whereas the makers of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" chose to save that franchise's final scene until the very end of production, the "Breaking Dawn" cast has already shot the last scene of their finale film — and it apparently was a pretty gloomy experience.
"The other day when we shot that ending sequence, we knew that was the ending of the last two movies and it got a little melancholy," Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen, told us on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday. "It was sad."
While the 37-year-old actor wouldn't delve into detail about the scene — "Lots of vampires," he teased —Robert Pattinson, also walking the Globes carpet, dished about the lengthy climax toward the end of "Breaking Dawn, Part 2." "There's like a 27-minute sequence in the final sequence, and it takes forever to shoot," he revealed. "There's about 75 people in it. Being on a piece of fake snow surrounded by green screen for like a month, it's driving me absolutely insane."
Facinelli, too, admitted that filming the final fight has meant the cast must suffer through a "brutal" production schedule, but he credited director Bill Condon with creating a calm, creative working environment.
"Bill Condon's fantastic," he said. "He's such a great actors' director. He's really collaborative. He's a joy to work with. He's very relaxed all the time. You never see him sweat."

'Breaking Dawn' Star Peter Facinelli Raves About Kristen Stewart As A Vampire

'For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque,' actor says on the Golden Globes red carpet.

We've had a preview of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart getting sexy as Edward and Bella on their honeymoon in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," and now Cullen patriarch Peter Facinelli has some more secrets from the movie's set. When MTV News caught up with Facinelli on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday (January 16), he revealed what Stewart's Bella is like as a vampire.
"She's doing really well. She looks fantastic," he raved about Stewart's transition to a vampire for the final films in the series. "For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque."
Facinelli wouldn't go into detail about shooting the last two films in the franchise with director Bill Condon and the rest of the "Breaking Dawn" crew, but he did admit that things have been
very action-packed. "We've been shooting the last two weeks with a lot of vampires," he said. "I don't want to give away too much, but if you've read the books, it's the standoff with lots of vampires in play. There's like 70 people going through the works at once. It's a little maddening, but fun.
"We shot pretty much the ending of the two movies the other day," he added about how much time the cast has left on-set. "But we shoot until mid-April."
MTV News recently spoke to Facinelli's co-star
Ashley Greene about that fight sequence against the Volturi, and she expressed her excitement about it as well. "As a cast, we like to do as many of our own stunts as possible, so it's fun and challenging to shoot those scenes," she said. "Jeff Imada, the stunt coordinator, is such a blast to work with as well. I'm learning so much from him."
