Warrior's Heart Now Out on DVD

You can now get your very own copy of A Warrior's Heart.  It is definitely a great movie and I highly recommend it to all.  The DVD can be purchased at Walmart, Blockbuster, Target and Amazon.  If you are a fan of Kellan and/or Ashley or just a good sports movie this is a movie for you.   I have included the trailer and poster below.

MTV: 'Breaking Dawn - Part 1' Hits DVD Just In Time For A Very Vampire Valentine's Day

Ya gotta hand it to Summit Entertainment: They know how to steal the holiday thunder. First came the theatrical release of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which caused mass vampire wedding hysteria in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. And now, they're releasing the DVD of the film in mid-February! As in, just in time to upstage the Valentine's Day plans of the thousands of hapless dudes who are currently dating "Twilight" fans!
...Er, yeah. Sorry, guys! But seriously, you might as well skip the chocolate box, cancel those reservations and accept that none of your piddling humanoid romance can possibly compete with the sight of Edward Cullen in a perfectly tailored tuxedo. (Just be glad that there's only one more of these movies until the franchise is finished, eh?)

But for everyone else, this is fabulous news: You've got just over a month until you, too, can own your very own copy of the two-disc special edition of "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." And yes, it's got goodies on it—including a six-part featurette on the making of the film; behind-the-scenes footage of your faaaavorite favorite actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner; and (and!!!) the official Edward and Bella wedding video.

Shocker: Biggest Video On Demand Movie of 2010 was NOT 'Avatar'

As you total up your bills for the holidays, wrap your head around this figure: $2.8 billion. That's how much money James Cameron's 'Avatar' has grossed in worldwide box office receipts. It doesn't include receipts for the basic, non-collector's edition on DVD and Blu-ray, released in April, which broke sales records, nor for the recent "Extended Collector's Edition." Nor does it include video on demand sales, which one might assume would also be record-breaking. Yet the film barely placed in the top 10 for 2010 list just announced by Comcast, the largest cable operator in the United States.

Variety notes that 'The Blind Side,' which earned only about 1/3 of what 'Avatar' did in domestic box office, ended up the #1 title on Comcast's "top-performing" list, with 'Couples Retreat,' 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon,' 'Hot Tub Time Machine' and 'The Hurt Locker' rounding out the top five. In their statement, Comcast pushes the party line: "Movies available the same day as DVD release are consistently among the top-performing content On Demand," and Variety agrees, pointing out that 'Avatar' was the only on demand title not available day-and-date with the DVD. Yet there's also some indication that audiences favor video on demand services to catch up with titles that they missed in theaters.

'Avatar,' for example, was a title that everyone insisted must be seen in a theater in 3D. It became the event movie of the year. Folks who loved it couldn't wait to own it, even in a stripped-down edition, which explains the broken sales records for DVD and Blu-ray. If the film had been made available via video on demand day-and-date with the first wave of DVD and Blu-ray releases, maybe it would have broken records there too. Or maybe there weren't that many people left who hadn't already seen it. Or maybe it was all those people who downloaded the film illegally, making 'Avatar' the most pirated film of the year.

Despite its ready-made comedic premise, 'Hot Tub Time Machine' somewhat under-performed at the box office, earning $50 million in domestic box office grosses; certainly not a disaster, but not the blockbuster that some expected. Video on demand provided the perfect opportunity to catch up.

To an even greater extent, 'The Hurt Locker' benefited from "want to see" curiosity after it won the Academy Award for Best Picture over 'Avatar' (and 'The Blind Side,' among others). The film grossed just $16 million domestically, but its subject matter probably made more people inclined to rent it via video on demand, rather than run out and buy a Blu-ray. Thus, its surge to the top five over other bigger-grossing movies.

Strong combinations of stories, supplements

Viewers benefit as technology enhances pop-up commentary

On one hand, 2010 was a great year for fans of DVD supplements, as Blu-ray helped pop-up AV commentary really come into its own. On the other hand, the new tech ended up being used a little too often as just a flashy way of presenting the same old rote featurettes. Here are the discs that had the most to offer, from main attractions that commanded attention to extras that did the same.

UP IN THE AIR

George Clooney’s nuanced showcase as a suavely detached employee-termination consultant is tricked out with the year’s most relevant commentary. Director Jason Reitman (“Juno,’’ “Thank You for Smoking’’) discusses how his adaptation of Walter Kirn’s novel was begun before the economy crashed, necessitating that lighthearted snippets with the recently fired get an empathy rewrite. Better still is a deleted-scenes collection featuring a surprisingly extensive surrealist sequence with a spacesuit-clad Clooney going about his disconnected routine.

THE RUNAWAYS

This depiction of Joan Jett’s early-career wild times sends you running to load “Cherry Bomb’’ onto your iPod. Then the disc lures you right back with commentary by Jett, screen counterpart Kristen Stewart, and Dakota Fanning, who plays Jett’s bandmate Cherie Currie. Jett has no problem getting on details that have been tweaked, such as those leather pants she never actually wore. “It’s about creating the [icon],’’ Stewart offers. “What does leather do that jeans wouldn’t?’’ Jett says. You tell her, sister.
