Fair go for beauty

IT has been credited with reviving everything from the vampire genre to our faith in true love and spawned a legion of devoted followers dubbed Twi-hards.
Now the Twilight Saga , the popular book and film series with the love tale of handsome vampire Edward and ordinary girl Bella at its core, is helping make fair complexions cool again.
Beauty insiders say pale is no longer viewed as pasty and Twilight had made many young women view the skin tone in a new light.
Tell us: Have you embraced the pale look?
"It has such a huge following, almost cult status, and portrays being pale in a way that is hip, very attractive and I think that's actually a message people are heeding," Adelaide stylist Lisa Cimmino said.
Jessica Atterton, 25, said she felt comfortable with her fair complexion. "I'll put on a bit of bronzer if I go out, but it's not something that bothers me," she said.
Cancer Council chief executive Professor Ian Olver said a bevy of Hollywood beauties were also behind the movement towards embracing porcelain skin.
"There's some very attractive pale actresses out there and I think seeing them on the red carpet can only be a positive thing," he said.
Make-up artist Jodi Nash said many brides were shunning fake tans altogether for their big day.
 Meyer, spanned all ages.
"You can buy sunglasses advertised as the ones Edward wears, even the type of computers they use in the film has Twilight marketing associated with it," he said.
"The love story at the heart of the film has renewed some people's faith in love and seen a renaissance in the vampire genre.
"I think part of the appeal is that we've got this vampire who's beautiful and good hearted, that people want to embrace his ideal- and being pale is a part of that. The films are mostly set in Washington under a constant sheet of rain, everyone's pale, it's trendy."
