EclipseMovie.org readers LovesWolvesnVamps (aka LWNV) and Snshyne had the awesome opportunity to see Eclipse Vampire Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale) and his band 100 Monkeys play at TT Bears on April 11th!
Check out MORE pictures after the break, including a video of the 100 Monkeys performing their song Grind, PLUS LWNV’s and Snshyne’s write up!
FINGER PORN!!!
I arrived with a good friend; let’s call her ‘J’, 2 hours early to wait in line. Not only did we see Jackson walk down the street sans paparazzi and body guards, but the bands dog, Gus, walked by us and we got to pat the beautiful boy. We met several twihards and twimoms. There was even a monkey junkie who was selling bracelets to raise money for the Spencer Bell Legacy Project (I am a proud owner of a beautiful home made bracelet, “The Music Lives On”).source
Thanks to some great timing we got Snshyne the scoop on front curb side parking! Once we made our way inside the three us found ourselves right up against the stage (not front and center however). The venue did not keep us waiting long… but we had to make it through 4 bands before we would the 100 Monkeys (at 11:30). Over to you Snshyne…
Alright, so let’s be honest, we were there to see 100 Monkey’s. However, I am a fan of live music in general and I have to say that for the most part, I really enjoyed the opening acts.
Dadfight was up first and they just had this fun, summer sound. I could totally see myself hanging out on the Northshore and listening their tunes. Thunderfakers were up next, not necessarily my speed of sound, but they had a good setup going for them with the strong percussion sounds. Radical Dads was really awesome. To me they’re like a cross of early Kings of Leon and maybe The Ting Tings. The Kissing Club was a good sound mix. One minute he was playing a mid tempo tune with Ben J and the next he was rocking out with some hair swinging to a headbanger. Then, he surprised us again with a soft ballad groove. Despite the attitude of the crowd, he kept on signing. The rest of the Monkey’s joined him at the end. I thought it was sweet.
Back to LWNV…
It was pretty sad that people were so disrespectful to Kissing Club that the 100 Monkeys had to come and join in mid song for the final two…
Typically, the ‘bananager’ introduces the band but he let Evan Sneider, start of the movie Girlfriend do it instead. The lucky guy even got a group hug from the band! The band was rockin’! I was most impressed with the fact that Jackson, Jared, Ben, and Ben all played at least the drums, bass, lead guitar, keyboard, bongo styled drums, and the keyboard. AND let’s not forget the trumpet. The poor trumpet had suffered the worst trauma of being broken and then taped back together. LOL. Uncle (just the sweetest man ever) played the keyboard and the bongo drums. Because they all play more than 1 instrument, the whole band would relocate around the stage.
The set list was; Wings On Fire,Orson,Ugly Girl,Sleeping Giants, Reaper, The Fair, The Monkey Song, Kelpix, Prayer, Shy Writer,*, Junkie, and Thank You
At one point a girl Snshyne knows was pushed up on stage by a crew member from the movie Girlfriend where she was an extra…
I laughed so hard while they tried to get her name out of her! Jackson on drums, “who’s on the stage” and Jared on base “I don’t know” kept going and going for several minutes. She did get a good close up shot of Jackson…
One of the girls we waited in line with picked the improv word for the improv song. The band asked for a verb and she chose “grind.” Jackson played the keyboard for that and sang most of the verses. (see the link to Snshyne’s utube video of the whole song)
OH! Did we mention that man can dance, rock the Johnny Depp look, sing, play, and STILL be a southern gent? *swoon*
Wait! LWNV, you forgot to mention that knock out smile! He flashed it all night. I’m pretty sure he knows the power of that thing.
OH trust me I did not forget THAT Snshyne! (I did give Jackson a sock money key cover. When he noticed it was a monkey his smile melted more than my heart! That was during the last song. They all went to the green room for a break and then AUTOGRAPHS! ‘J’ not only made off with the set list BUT she got a Jackson hug and she kissed his deliciously slightly stubbly cheek! Not to be out done, Snshyne got a hug AND got called darlin’. Snshyne interrupting here, I died! I am not of the fangirling nature. I’ve met several celebrities and managed to keep it cool, but Jackson did me in. Can I also say that he smells amazing! Like some kind of lilac and leather and man! End fangirling by Snshyne. Stupid Bananager put an end to my hopes of a hug, but I did get a final thank you for the key cover and a really nice conversation with Uncle. I promised him that after this was up on EM.ORG I would send it and all of my pictures to the 100 Monkeys site…
I will end with this parting advice, if 100 Monkeys comes to a town near you… BUY TICKETS, take the day off from work if necessary, and get to that concert. Do not grab any of the band and after you will get an autograph and maybe even a hug.
Tickets for the show, $10. 3 cd’s, $30. A black and white glossy, $15. Hearing Jackson call Snshyne Darlin’? PRICELESS! Laterz!
