'Twilight' Star Nikki Reed Doles Out 'Tough Dog' Love

In the Twilight saga, Nikki Reed plays a vampire who deals with werewolves — not to mention the curse of perpetual teen angst. But none of that could prepare the actress for her latest project: raising rescue dog Sydney.

"She's a pit bull, and I'm all about tough dogs," Reed told PEOPLEPets.com last Friday night at Teen Vogue's 8th Annual Young Hollywood Party in Los Angeles. "But she definitely has a screw loose!"

The actress rescued the 2 1/2-year-old from a shelter, and the two seemed to have an instant connection. But soon after the pooch came home, Reed started to notice a few, er, peculiar personality traits in her four-legged pal.

"I hate to say this, but she doesn't like kids," the actress admits, adding, "and she doesn't like strollers … and she hates other animals."

One thing the lucky pup does like: her new owner, who happily accepts her quirks and her fickle temperament.

"It's not really a flaw," Reed said with an understanding smile. "That's just her way. I love her, and she's my best friend!"source
