Lisa Howard, one of the stars of William Finn's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will perform a concert at Birdland on Monday, April 11 at 7pm. This event will be part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series, which showcases performers and composers from the Great White Way.
The concert will be a celebration of the release of Howard's new CD, "Songs of Innocence and Experience: The Music of William Finn," on the Sh-K-Boom label. Lisa will pay tribute to the great artistry of the William Finn songbook with a full band led by musical director Vadim Feichtner, and perform Finn staples such as "Infinite Joy," "Sailing," "I Have Found" and many more! Also scheduled to perform with Ms. Howard are Derrick Baskin, Sebastian Arcelus, Ethan Paulini, Betsy Werbel, Gaelen Gilliland, Beth Eunice and many more.
Finn says of Lisa, "When she sings, she illuminates a song like a light bulb illuminating a maze. She makes the act of interpreting a song look ridiculously easy, even when it is ridiculously hard."
Lisa Howard is a native of Akron, Ohio. It was there that she acquired her love for music, spending countless hours sitting in front of the record player listening and singing along to Annie and The Sound of Music. She was a member of the national touring company of Les Misérables, in which she went on for many performances as Madame Thénardier. In addition to ...Spelling Bee, she has appeared on Broadway in South Pacific and 9 to 5, and will make her feature film debut in the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
